Job description
The Director of Supply Chain Strategy is responsible for the successful execution of manufacturing and distribution transformation projects within the Central Business Unit. The incumbent will work closely with line management across the Business Unit, BBU and GB functional support, and other project teams to develop business cases, detailed project plans and risk mitigation strategies and to execute projects that achieve all business objectives.
This role works on high impact, complex and confidential projects. The role works directly with senior management and interacts across all major corporate and operational functions.
Role is flexible to be located in Midwest or Texas
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Distribution Centers: responsible for implementation of new DC network across the Central which may include new construction, long term leases, automation, freeze/thaw. Scope includes successful start-up and commissioning and attainment of all safety, service, and cost objectives.
- Sales Center Reconfiguration: work with the Director, Sales Strategy to determine the optimal Sales Center footprint and coordinate with Real Estate and Sales Operations to develop and execute a migration plan. Scope includes attainment of cost objectives
- Portfolio Optimization: work across both the Business Unit and BBU to develop the optimal product portfolio (across all product categories and both self-manufactured and co-packed items) and then develop and execute an implementation plan. Scope includes profitability analysis, working with Sales to mitigate any volume loss, and working with other project teams to align product portfolio with objectives such as service, inventory, etc.
- Transportation Optimization: as the new network develops, optimize transportation both through design and deployment of executional tools. Design may include changes to manufacturing capabilities, sourcing, service areas, etc.
- Support market initiatives such as direct to store, alternate distribution, and food service. Work closely with Sales in the development of business cases, project plans, and risk mitigation strategies. Oversee implementation to ensure service, growth, and cost objectives are met.
- Lead other initiatives such as full tray ordering, product carrier conversion, etc.
- Effectively leads people.
- Maintains a high degree of credibility with management and must be able to interact effectively with associates at all levels and across a wide range of functions.
- Ensure the success of associates through effective communication, sharing clear goals, expectations, objectives, while providing constructive feedback and encouraging self -development.
- Implements and maintain business controls and corporate operating policies and procedures.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain or related field.
- At least 10 years of related and varied experience in managing transportation, distribution, and/or manufacturing operations.
- Experience developing and implementing complex solutions : completing cost/P&L analyses ; preparing business cases; applying activity based costing as well as cost allocation methodologies; using output from statistical, simulation, and optimization tools ; leading cross functional projects including alignment of stakeholders, applying common project management tools, and managing outside suppliers ; facilitating problem solving using variety of methodologies ; applying methodologies to understand, anticipate, mitigate risk.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate to all levels of the organization.
- Experience using tools and software such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.
- Ability to travel, visit facilities/sales centers/distribution centers within the business unit.
- Strong analytic skills with attention to detail.
- Must be able to plan & accomplish goals with limited supervision.
