What will I be doing?
The Financial Consulting Associate will work on consulting teams to understand our clients' objectives; supervise and work alongside Analysts; and work independently to research, structure, create, and deliver high-quality work product and analyses. The Financial Consulting Associate must be comfortable working with large data sets to build robust and dynamic scenario models in MS Excel, craft strategic financial plans and reports, and create clean presentations that help clients answer their pressing questions and find innovative solutions. Most importantly, the Financial Consulting Associate will make a meaningful impact-on schools, school administrations, and the students they serve.
Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
· Developing school system budgets and multi-year financial projections
· Leading data collection and analysis of school data to advise school system clients on financing opportunities, resource allocation possibilities, and sustainability challenges
· Conducting client and stakeholder interviews
· Creating professional and high-quality reports and presentations
· Actively participating in client meetings
· Conducting research to inform client engagements and industry thought leadership activities
· Assisting in developing client engagement project plans
· Assisting in developing client engagement proposals and project scope documents
· Earning client trust and developing collaborative relationships with clients
· Managing multiple projects, timelines, and deliverables
· Supervising and developing company Analysts
What skills are we looking for?
· Intermediate to advanced financial acumen; build effective financial projections and analyses; analyze and discern key financial assumptions and risks
· Ability to understand client's priorities and objectives, work collaboratively with client personnel, and align details of work to the bigger picture perspective of the client's needs
· Work with detail and accuracy, review work; meticulous efforts with work product, research, and analysis; produce quality (zero-defect) client-ready deliverables
· Apply problem-solving skills, identify opportunities, and accomplish work; overcome obstacles and barriers
· Intermediate financial communication; translate complex financial information to various audiences in a clear and concise manner
· Intermediate project management skills with demonstrated ability to work independently, resolve problems, and perform effectively in complex work situations under the pressure of tight deadlines
· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
· Strong mathematics skills and working knowledge of statistics
· Ability to communicate complex data in a simple, actionable way
· Ability to visualize data in the most effective way possible for a given project or study
· Ability to work independently and with diverse team members from different backgrounds
· Ability to travel up to 10%
What Education/Experience is Required?
· Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a similar field
· 3+ years of experience in relevant fields (management consulting, corporate finance, investment banking, or public policy)
· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
· Strong analytical, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
· Passion for improving K-12 education in the U.S.
