Job description

We are looking to hire an HR Generalist with concentration in Recruiting for our non-profit senior living community located in Chicago's Norwood Park neighborhood.

Our residential campus specializes in assisted living, skilled nursing, rehab, respite stays, and memory support (including Alzheimer's and dementia care). Our ideal candidate will pride themselves on displaying professionalism, excellent HR services, and having the enthusiasm and willingness to learn and grow.

This role will be responsible for allocating proper resources available to finding top talent for the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :


  • Confer with HR Director and the management team to identify hiring needs, workforce planning strategies, and search assignments with a can do attitude.
  • Develop and maintain a network of contacts (i.e.: Community Colleges, Local schools) to help identify and source qualified healthcare professionals and nurses
  • Leverage online recruiting resources to recruit the very best candidates.
  • Review applications/resumes and credentials for appropriateness of skills, experience and knowledge in relation to position requirements.
  • Provide complete, accurate, and inspiring information to candidates about Norwood Crossing along with job descriptions.
  • Prescreen candidates by telephone or in-person by using behavioral based interviewing methodologies and targeted questioning.
  • Manage and coordinate all communication with candidates and front desk staff.
  • Manages the scheduling and logistics of all interviews between candidates and hiring managers.
  • Prepare candidates for interviewing with hiring managers by providing detailed information on the organization, department background, job descriptions, and expectation-setting.
  • Organize, leads and documents post-interview debrief/feedback with interview teams and candidates.
  • Reviews the hiring manager's interview feedback with each candidate and take appropriate action when warranted.
  • Perform detailed reference checking on selected candidates
  • Extend offers of employment to selected candidates under the direction of the HR Director and within the guidelines of Norwood Crossing compensation guidelines.
  • Oversees the requisition cycle and partners with the management team. Interprets plans as needs develop and change.
  • Positively recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the HR department and the organization.
  • Conducts new-employee orientation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Desired Skills:

1-5+ years of recruiting/HR experience

Experience working with ATS systems (Applicant Pro, Taleo, Kronos, or the like)

Outstanding Communication: Ability to provide simply the best customer service experience to internal and external clients

Excellent internet researching abilities
