The IT Business Systems Analyst is challenged to develop and maintain credibility and effective working relations with both customer management and IT personnel in a way that demonstrates an understanding of business problems, as well as IT strategies, architecture, applications inventory, issues, and priorities. Also works on business application analysis with a clear understanding of development methodology & project management life-cycle.

The Intermediate business analyst is involved at some level throughout the entire system or software development life cycle. Upon establishment of the requirements baseline, the focus is shifted towards the management of the requirements specification and verifying the fulfillment of all requirements.

    Position Description

    Responsibilities (May perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned).

    Analysis / Communication:

    • Responsible for all BA activities including but not limited to writing project vision statements, writing use cases, gathering, and documenting functional and non-functional requirements, writing user stories, documenting Requirement Traceability Matrix (RTM), System Requirement Specification (SRS), System Requirement Document (SRD), Test cases, Functional Requirement Specification (FRS) and Functional Specification Document (FSD).
    • Prepare all documentation within the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) guidelines including the Project Initiation Form, Capital Request Form and Statement of Work and obtain sign off of these deliverables from the business.
    • Perform or assist in the research and fact-finding to develop or modify application programs.
    • Design and document existing (AS IS) and TO BE business processes with business unit partners.
    • Provide project management services for small and medium projects.
    • Responsible for developing reports, metrics, and related dashboard and KPIs using Excel and SharePoint to support True Value's BRM area.
    • Responsible for holding and running process review sessions to help drive improvements to current processes.
    • Responsible for performing GAP analysis to assess risk to processes and applications.
    • Execute on BRM responsibilities such as reviewing new ideas for clarity and completeness and tracking and measuring overall delivery progress.

    Testing:
    • Direct efforts in the creation of user acceptance test cases, and sometimes create the UAT test scripts.
    • Assist in the conduction trial runs of programs and software applications and review to be sure they will produce the desired information and that the instructions are correct.
    • Assist in the analysis of user acceptance testing results and recommend defect resolutions in conjunction with requirements/development team. Participate in user acceptance testing, when applicable.
    • Assist in the identification of issues, work with team to track, report and resolve in a timely manner.

    Production Support:

    • Assist users with basic system problems.
    • Assist in identifying issues and inconsistencies with data quality to overcome system deficiencies.
    • Development and Support of SharePoint applications.

    Other Responsibilities:
    • BRM responsibilities (BVS status and idea prioritization reporting preparation).
    • PMO responsibilities (helping with portfolio tracking, updating, and reporting via the Spotlight Report).
    • Helping with projects and enhancement budgeting and planning. Summarizing project budget data.
    • Leading process review sessions to drive out improvements to existing processes and applications.
    • Project Coordination and Project Management needs for small and medium sized projects.
    • Preparing metrics (weekly and monthly metrics requests are growing).
    • Conducting and scoring project and enhancement surveys.

    Position Qualifications

    Education & Experience:

    • 3-5 years of relevant professional experience in the IT or consulting field.
    • Strong communication, project management, and time management skills.
    • Knowledge of a retail, wholesale, or e-commerce environment.
    • Ability to think creatively and quickly to help solve stakeholder problems requiring a technical solution.
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
