Leopardo Energy collaborates with municipalities and other local government organizations to renew facilities while simultaneously increasing energy efficiency and decreasing operational costs across multiple departments-all without the need for new capital expenditures. Through our comprehensive capital creation audits, identifying improvements to save energy, create capital, address deferred maintenance issues, analyze existing financial conditions and identify fleet operations options, Leopardo develops energy-saving performance contracts (ESPCs) that create self-funding projects and provide clients with a comprehensive set of capital creation measures.Leopardo Energy is looking for a Project Engineer to join our team!Summary: The Project Engineer is primarily responsible for assisting and supporting Project Management. This includes planning, executing, and monitoring project activities related to scope development, cost and savings development, assisting in engineering and client deliverables, and coordinating designated project activities during construction. This role will learn all facets of the performance contracting process and will assist business development, engineering, project development, project management, and measurement and verification. The Project Engineer will participate in Leopardo Energy's structured training, which includes completion of the assigned rotational learning plans, to gain a clear understanding of Company policies, procedures, philosophies, and the overall process.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Client Engagement - this set of duties and responsibilities includes direct communication with clients to understand their needs and understand their operations. Your responsibility will be to:· Participate in and create deliverables for client meetings.· Work with clients to gather all required data.· Participate in site surveys.· Develop "soft skills" to effectively communicate aspects of the project and build client trust.· Engage clients to understand specific project requirements.· Assist and participate in local and regional client events and entertainment.Project Management - this set of duties and responsibilities includes administering all contractual responsibilities to ensure all goals and objectives are met. Your responsibility will be to:· Monitor and achieve goals to include overhead, profit, general conditions, and profit projections / job cost maintenance.· Monitor a detailed master construction schedule utilizing Microsoft Project. Track critical dates of all activities affecting the project completion (Owner, Architect, Consultants, Contractor, Subcontractors, Municipalities, Equipment Suppliers, Site Due Diligence, etc.) and provide updates as required.· Obtain permits, insurance and bonds.· Review and process submittals, shop drawings and RFI's. Follow up with architect, subcontractor, and client to expedite approvals. Establish, maintain and update logs that meet Company or Owner's specifications.· Coordinate and/or participate in weekly (e.g. OAC, MEP Coordination, Pre-installation, etc.) and post construction meetings. Prepare meeting minutes. Outline all items discussed, indicating the status of each, and assign responsibility and date for completion of open items. Coordinate MBE / WBE compliance monitoring, update and report as required.· Negotiate with and procure Subcontractors and Suppliers.· Generate subcontracts / purchase orders, and gather and review monthly applications for payment. Track status on subcontracts, insurance and bonds.· Determine subcontractor work completed to date, on a project, and generate monthly billings to owner.· Verify, price and prepare change order documentation. Maintain change order log to review weekly status of changes.· Project completion closeout documentation. Compile as-built drawings, warrantee letters, O&M manuals, and other documents to complete the closeout package.· Ensure correct setup and maintenance of filing and archiving systems.· Travel throughout the Midwest is requiredInternal Team - this set of duties and responsibilities includes activities related to strengthening our team and capabilities. Your responsibility will be to:· Assist in internal tool development.· Assist in research and development related to new technologies, market trends, competitor analysis, etc.· Participate in industry events and trade shows.Leadership Competencies:Results Oriented Customer CenteredTwo-way Communication Building RelationshipsCritical Thinking and Decision Making Adaptability and CreativityTechnical/Functional ExpertiseSupervisory Requirements: None.Education / Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University in construction, engineering or architecture related fields; or, equivalent training and related experience.Prior industry experience as a Project Engineer or Intern preferred; field and/or estimating experience is a plus.Proficiency in Microsoft Office; especially Word, Excel and Project.Understanding of basic construction technologies such as: scheduling software, financial comprehension, digital model navigation; ability to read and understand blueprints is a must.Awareness of project management and accounting software.Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: Must have a valid driver's license.Physical Demands: Representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.The employee is consistently required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk through construction sites while maneuvering over unlevel or loose ground, up and down ladders, temporary staircases, and up and down hills; uses hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms, and, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and /or move up to 25 pounds but frequently it is 10 pounds or less. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee must have the ability to travel when required.Work Environment: Representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the office work environment is usually quiet.
