Job description

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for new business development. This Project Management role will lead the team in planning, executing, monitoring, controlling, and closing projects in a timely fashion and within budget. The Manager is accountable for the entire project scope, including generating revenue from new and existing accounts. This position will manage inbound and outbound leads, including qualification, upselling, and relationship building. Job Duties & Responsibilities: Project Management 1. Leads and manages the sales prospects from lead to close, understanding sales strategies and high level of customer service. 2. Manages sales projects by leading the team, resources, and project scope. Sales 1. Actively researches potential leads from business directories, web searches, or digital resources (i.e. Hoover, Epicor, etc.), make multiple calls to potential customers, send communication, and make contact 2. Collaborates with Marketing, Engineering and Sales teams to identify new sales opportunities 3. Manages leads (trade show, marketing, et al), perform focused cold calling and escalate if necessary 4. Manages inbound leads (from digital campaigns, trade shows, E-commerce, etc.) by pre-qualifying them based on appropriateness and financial soundness. If warranted, direct the lead to appropriate area 5. Provides quotations of products requested with established pricing authority; 6. Continuous follow through with presenting and delivering information to potential customers, answering questions with follow-up calls 7. Builds relationships by understanding client needs (before they do) and offering solutions and support. Upsell and cross-sell 8. Creates and maintains an accurate and up to date list/profile/database of prospect and current customers (eg. ERP,CRM) 9. Purposeful continuous communication with accounts, including but not limited to, asking for the order, asking for new projects to quote or spec, asking for extended contacts Reports To: Business Services Director (80%) Sales (20%) Customer Service 1. Manages and own new and select existing accounts and distributors 2. Proactively responds to RFQ's and product questions. Escalate if necessary to engineering including general email box RFQ's. Offer cross-sell and up sell options 3. Organizes and leads product presentations, remote "lunch and learns, to grow business at existing accounts, new product roll outs 4. Responds to inquiries on orders, invoices if customers contacts them directly, otherwise, calls go to call center 5. Manages complaints professionally escalate if necessary to appropriate department 6. Continuous communication with accounts, including but not limited to, follow up on previous RFQ and project conversations, provide updates on orders 7. Provides support to accounts owned by outside Sales team. Job Qualifications: Required Education & Experience Bachelor's Degree required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills- able to call, connect and interact with potential new customers 2. Comfortable making focused cold calls, follow up calls and talking to new people all day 3. Experience working with Epicor preferred 4. Working knowledge of manufacturing industries required, with working knowledge of automation industries preferred 5. Persuasive and goal-oriented 6. Energetic, friendly demeanor 7. Self-motivated and self-directed, and able to work independently or as an active member of a team. 8. Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently 9. Tenacity to handle rejection and continue with a positive attitude when reaching out to the next customer 10. Knowledge of sales process from initiation to close Experience 1. Five plus years of proven inside Business Development experience with track record of over-achieving quota 2. Five plus years of industry business development experience 3. Proven successful communication and interpersonal skills with all levels of an organization 4. Ability to negotiate, close deals, resolve conflicts, and maintain customers 5. Advanced experience working with Sales or CRM software Travel 1. Ability to travel up to 50%, post pandemic.
