Job description

WHAT YOU'LL DO

The Research Clerk is responsible for providing accurate and timely resolution to various research and adjustment requests. These requests originate from cash, check or credit card payments made online or in person for services provided by our clients.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

Perform various research tasks that require the use of multiple systems and applications in order to determine the appropriate action and provide resolution, regardless of payment method used by the customer.

lookup and validate customer account numbers
locate misapplied payments
make payment corrections/reversals
locate dropped batches
balance deposits prior to posting file
prepare daily wire reports for deposit
research customer exceptions and prepare outgoing client non-post packages
research and process chargebacks and return items

Work with service payment agents and/or billers and internal contacts to determine the source of problems and resolution.

Knowledge of:

Strong oral and written communication skills
Excellent written and verbal communication and customer service skills
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
General banking and balancing knowledge of debits, credits and payment processing

Ability to:

Identify and resolve complex problems and interpret data
Collect, organize, and prioritize information for decisioning
Able to multitask and be able to shift focus depending on daily priorities

EDUCATION & TRAINING

High school diploma or equivalent.

2+ Previous experience with bank operations, research and adjustments or payment processing

Requires knowledge of Microsoft Office.
