We're experiencing significant growth and have ambitious plans. We are looking for an experienced, dynamic Finance leader to head the finance team in our Americas region (covering the US, Canada, Brazil, and Mexico).
About the Role
The Americas Finance Manager will have a wide range of responsibilities, overseeing the finance function for our companies in the US, Canada, Brazil, and Mexico, also working closely with the Group Finance team based in our UK head office.
This is a tremendous opportunity for the right person to join our business in the most senior finance role in the Americas region and help develop our finance function over the coming years. As well as being an important part of the Americas leadership team, this role will have regular interaction with senior leaders in the broader business, including our Group Finance Director (based in the UK). Responsibilities include:
Financial Reporting
- Overseeing monthly management accounts for regional companies
- Oversee the preparation of year-end statutory reporting packs for regional companies, and any additional Group requirements
- Reporting of regional performance to regional and Group management
- Review of actual and forecast profitability by product line
- Support the application of key International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) requirements in the region, such as IFRS 15 and 16, with support from Group Finance
- Oversee direct and indirect tax compliance for regional companies
- Support the implementation of the Digital Gateway platform (tax compliance register), working with Group Tax and our external tax advisers
- Regular review of transfer pricing and supporting documentation
- Monitor the region's compliance with our internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR)
- Support Group Finance in implementing a SOX equivalent ('UK SOX') in the region
- Support local finance and management teams in addressing internal audit recommendations
- Work with Group Finance to establish suitable procedures for Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance
- Supporting Group Treasury to maintain appropriate banking arrangements for the region
- Preparing the annual budget for regional companies
- Monthly forecasting for regional companies, with support from local finance teams
- Delivering regional input to the Group's five-year plan
- Monitoring the region's capital expenditure against forecast
- Day-to-day management of local finance teams, developing team members and ensuring the right financial resource is in place for each regional company
- Work with head office to identify development needs of the finance team in the region and arrange the appropriate staffing and development of internal resources
- Work with the regional management to set objectives for the finance team that are aligned with overall group finance strategic objectives
- Support the UK head office with the implementation of Microsoft Dynamics (MS D365)
- Provide commercial support to the region, providing valuable insight to local and regional management on our performance and plans
- Identify cost savings and process efficiencies, and implement cost control measures where needed
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
- 3+ years of experience managing a team
- 5+ years as a qualified CPA, or possession of equivalent international qualification, such as ACCA
- Thorough understanding of IFRS, with a financial reporting background
- Solid understanding of internal controls
- Experience of direct and indirect tax compliance
- Experience working with international teams
- Experience implementing an Enterprise Resource Planning System (or other business process management software)
- Experience in tax compliance, internal controls framework and risk management
- Excellent influencing, communication, and negotiation skills with the ability to interface with internal and external partners and customers
- Financial analysis and consulting skills, with the ability to translate financial information into actionable data the business may use to make well-informed decisions
- Demonstrated, progressive experiencing leading a Finance team, in both function and leadership capabilities
- Strategic capabilities, balanced with the willingness to play a 'hands on' role and take ownership of the work with the rest of the team
- An innovative, flexible thinker, willing to provide solutions under which the business may act
- Ability to actively support a culture of continuous improvement, including process improvement and optimization, both within the Finance department and beyond
- Relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate with others to support the business and execute innovation and change
- Ability to travel internationally, up to 25%
