Robert Half seeks a Controller to become a part of a successful company and take responsibility for an accounting and clerical department. The Controller will be a permanent employment opportunity and will be located in the Franklin Park, Illinois region. Responsibilities include planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff. This role's duties will require effectively managing self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services, leading while also being a team player, generating innovative ideas, and challenging the status quo. Major responsibilities

- Present monthly financial reports to executive committee and partners

- Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure efficient and successful firm-wide operation

- Review deliverables of self and team to align with client expectations

- Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed

- Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts

- Guide all operations of the finance department, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

- Flexible in completing tasks beyond formal job responsibilities

- Evaluate, implement and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

- Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management

- Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual

- Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis Requirements - 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

- Self-starter and strong ethical standards

- Sharp, analytical thinking abilities, always seeking to draw connections and identify the "why"

- Dedication and requisite skills to meet critical business deadlines

- BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

- Excellent oral and written communication skills

- CPA or MBA preferred

- Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued

- Skilled in the construction and delivery of effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds

- Solid understanding of Microsoft Excel

- Bank reconciliations experience

- Deep understanding of Lien Waivers

- General ledger experience

- Proven knowledge of month end closings

- AIA Billing experience required

- Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required

- Be detailed, flexible, and organized

- Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
