Job description

Overview
Provides strategic oversight to the Volunteer Services and functions including the gift shop. Oversees the Valet and Pastoral Care services. Ensures department staff and volunteers follow JCAHO procedures. As a member of the department head team, and guided by the values of Memorial Health System, deploys, evaluates and responds to the clinical, financial, human and business tactics required to achieve Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital's strategic goals. Achieves the highest level of employee performance and production. Ensures enforcement of MHS policies and procedures.

Qualifications
Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor's degree preferred.

Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory or demonstrated leadership experience is required.
  • 2+ years' experience in volunteer services is required.

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Experience and understanding of business operations is required.
Responsibilities
  1. Provides strategic vision and oversight to all functions of the volunteer program and Auxiliary gift shop.
  2. Recruits, trains, and develops volunteers, ensuring proper numbers and skill levels to handle the daily workload.
  3. Works with department heads to provide value-added services to their departments through the deployment of volunteers.
  4. Oversees the Valet and Chaplain Services programs, ensuring adequate staffing and appropriate processes to ensure great patient experiences.
  5. Coordinates staff uniform purchases with selected vendors, including bi-annual onsite purchasing opportunities and outfitting new employees.
  6. Manages daily department operations to ensure efficiency and timeliness in provision of services by constant enforcement of inspecting agency standards.
  7. Schedules appropriate personnel and volunteers to ensure proper numbers and skill levels to handle the daily workload.
  8. Performs personnel-related functions for staff and volunteers (as applicable) including, but not limited to, recruitment and selection, training, performance reviews, counseling, disciplining, and payroll.
  9. Develops and follows the department budget.
  10. Serves on committees to provide technical expertise and advice as needed.
  11. Writes and enforces departmental policies and procedures.
  12. Holds routine staff and volunteer meetings and in-services as needed to provide employees guidance and information to perform their duties.
  13. Ensures that staff and volunteer members are practicing according to federal and state requirements.
  14. Ensures the department has the proper equipment and supplies.
  15. Initiates quality control measures and evidence based practice techniques.
  16. Provides the necessary leadership and support that will remove obstacles and enable staff and volunteers to perform their work efficiently and effectively.
  17. Promotes and creates community benefit opportunities and ensure follow thru with appropriate reporting and documentation.
  18. Performs other related work as required or requested.
