The Job at a Glance

The Commercial Real Estate Loan Processor will ensure excellent quality and customer service pertaining to commercial lending functions from application through post-closing procedures. Monitor, analyze and process loans and all account documentation associated with commercial lending functions. Regional and national travel required to support loan origination and servicing as needed. This individual will be the internal and external champion for the credit union's sales and service culture and will lead the continued enhancement of service, delivery and operational process improvements as related to commercial lending. The Commercial Real Estate Loan Processor will manage organizational goals and service expectations for commercial lending needs and ensure the department follows all regulations and policies.

A Typical Day

  • Assist with commercial lending functions including application, loan origination, loan processing, set up of closing disbursements, loan document scanning and post-closing procedures.
  • Contract with various vendors for commercial real estate title work and appraisals, environmental and flood searches.
  • Complete credit tracking and credit reporting requirements on business and principal(s); prepare financial analysis of corporate and personal financial data to determine credit risk of business loan applicant(s).
  • Gather periodic financial information from business members and principals as required by Commercial and Member Loan Policy guidelines; perform commercial loan property site visits regionally and nationally as needed.
  • Monitor business loan portfolio for proper documentation and collateral insurance coverage.
  • Monitor commercial collection accounts for assigned commercial lender; contact commercial collection accounts and assist on past due accounts and ticklers.
  • Maintain business credit files in accordance with Credit Union procedures and retention schedules to ensure security of loan documentation.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts, including employees, members, board members and outside vendors.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all regulations that pertain to this position, including all Credit Union products, services and promotions.
  • Assist in the processing and monitoring of all active Participation Loans as requested.
  • Monitoring and execution of all reports and tracking of the department working closely with marketing, finance and IT.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What We Look For

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Organizational Development or related field of study preferred. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience, and/or training.
  • Financial industry, lending and/or sales experience is preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills using Excel and other programs and software as assigned.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication and collaboration skills
  • Capable of undertaking tasks broad in nature, requiring ingenuity and originality.
  • Knowledge of commercial real estate products, underwriting practices and guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to operate independently, and exercise significant latitude for independent judgement, discretion, and action.
  • Proven abilities with business lending and deposit operations, financial products and services
  • Experience working in a sales/service environment.
  • Proficiency with computer skills (MS Office) and business-related software and loan systems
  • Maintain a high level of business acumen with the ability to develop strong relationships with borrowers, brokers and industry partners.
  • Ability to identify and facilitate change in a deadline driven, highly regulated, fast-paced environment.
  • Competency in basic math skills such as calculating interest and commercial mortgage payments.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Must work well under pressure and be able to meet externally influenced deadlines.
  • Solid time management skills and the ability to organize, prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
