The Drug Metabolism, Pharmacokinetics & Bioanalysis Department at AbbVie has an opening for a Scientist I position in North Chicago, IL. The successful candidate will be responsible for non-regulated quantitative LC-MS/MS bioanalysis of small molecules to support in-vitro HT-ADME studies, and in-vivo PKPD analyses for drug discovery and development.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Perform quantitative LC-MS/MS (Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry) analysis of small molecules from various in-vitro and in-vivo bio-matrices.
- Act as close partner of HT-ADME group, and multiple teams across DMPK-BA to provide bioanalytical support for ADME, PK/PD, efficacy, and exploratory toxicology studies.
- Operate, perform routine maintenance, and support the troubleshooting of SCIEX LC-MS/MS systems.
- Maintain excellent documentation of all work including electronic lab notebooks, test methods, and protocols.

Qualifications
Basic:
- B.S. or M.S. in analytical chemistry or related field with 5+ (B.S.) or 2+ (M.S.) years of relevant academic/pharmaceutical industry experience.
- Hands-on experience with small molecule quantitative bioanalysis using LC-MS/MS is required.
- Experience in operating and troubleshooting current LC-MS/MS platforms (Agilent HPLCs, Leap/CTC PAL and ADDA autosamplers, Sciex API-5500/6500 triple quad mass spectrometers); familiarity with data acquisition and management software (e.g. Discovery Quant, Analyst, Electronic notebook).
- Working knowledge of sample preparation techniques. Familiarity of automated sample preparation platforms will be a plus.
- Knowledge of in-vitro HT-ADME assay (DDI/TDI, PPB, metabolic stability, etc.) development and analysis will be a plus.
- Detail oriented and committed to generating high-quality results within deadlines and across different projects.
