Job Summary
This job is responsible for supporting the General Manager in all activities at a Distribution Center (DC) in order to meet the company's business and financial goals. This job supports the development and implementation of systems, processes and /or programs that will maximize operational efficiencies and productivity. The incumbent provides leadership and direction to leadership staff and associates and maximizes workforce utilization while promoting/fostering teamwork. This job shares responsibility for the creation and oversight of the DC's operating and capital budget as well as the financial performance to drive lower cost as a percent of sales.
Major Responsibilities
Supports a high performing, customer centric team. Selects, coaches, motivates, conducts performance evaluations, and identifies development and growth opportunities. Develops leaders through coaching, mentoring, performance management, talent management and succession planning. Supports all HR programs and practices in the DCs.
Champions processes, procedures, and an environment that support distribution solutions. Advocates the utilization of process and technology improvements in order to minimize inefficiencies and maximize productivity. In association with the GM, coordinates effective change management by leveraging associate involvement, common processes, effective and timely communication and Supply Chain leader support.
Shares responsibility in establishing and supporting the achievement of goals and objectives for the DC in accordance and alignment with company goals; provides leadership, measures and feedback, and motivation for staff achievement of DC goals.
Identifies, implements and drives consistent best practices across all areas within the DC, including inbound receiving, put away, picking and packing and outbound shipping as well as ensuring adherence to deadlines for orders processed, loads received, and accurate reporting across all the functions.
Plays an active role in DC budget and expense management, on time delivery, work standards, and inventory control. Assists in monitoring, evaluating, managing, and revising key performance indicators, such as financial, productivity, service, labor management and people goals in order to reduce and control costs.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, or related field preferred.
5+ years supply chain/distribution leadership experience in a retail, manufacturing, or comparable environment, including demonstrated leadership and business acumen skills.
SKILLS
Lean, Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt) highly preferred.
