Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is seeking a Capture Manager 3 to join the Digitally Transformed Pursuit and Captures Dojo team, within the sector's Strategic Growth organization. The selected individual will be responsible for supporting the Capture Leadership Center (CLC) in all operational activities that enable the team to meet the needs of the Sector and Division Priority Win Pursuits and Enterprise Campaigns.
The focus of this position is on the Navigation, Targeting and Survivability (NTS) portfolio, leading Dojo events in partnership with the NTS Division capture teams. Though the preference is for Rolling Meadows, IL, this function can be performed in either of the following locations: Linthicum, MD, Buffalo, NY, or Woodland Hills, CA.
In support of the sector-wide Digital Transformation initiative, the CLC is operating as a Capture team performance DOJO that provides precision coaching, an immersive learning experience, and DevOps services to effectively compete and win in growth markets. The DOJO leverages interdisciplinary expertise from Divisions and functions to address critical decisions in market segmentation, portfolio management, competitive positioning, offering development, customer demonstrations, compelling proposals, and profitable business deals.
As the Capture Strategist, you will charter, train, and equip capture teams to conduct DOJO sprints that enhance market positioning, advance capture maturity, and develop compelling offers for customer evaluation feedback. This role actively interacts with business development, strategy, technology working groups, business model innovation, operations, digital engineering and competitive design functions.
The Capture Strategist will be expected to:
Drive the utilization of DOJO tools and resources to assist in validating assumptions and market discriminators that enhance the quality of the franchise capture win strategy
Integrate the DOJO team across functional boundaries serving as a facilitator, coach and trainer to critically assess products, capabilities, technology, business models, and management approaches.
Develop portfolio management frameworks, capture strategies, customer value propositions and discriminating technical, management, and business offerings.
Identify potential customers, synthesize competitive assessments, support make/buy and price-to-win decision cycles; participate in bid and proposal team activities.
Support and guide business unit teams in developing a pursuit strategy for opportunities, including:
Lead the analysis of the competitive landscape, NG's capabilities, and business constraints to determine, document, and communicate the best strategy/capture themes/call plans/win themes using the NGMS BAP capture and proposal development processes
Conduct just-in-time training for capture and proposal teams, as required, for them to successfully navigate the capture process and the BAP
Collaborate with Capture, Business Development and CLC team (Pursuit Analysts & Proposal Specialists) throughout the capture process
Support and advise the Capture Manager and team on proposal generation, including:
Coordinate and plan proposal needs with the Proposal Specialist
Work with team to develop annotated outline for proposal to include the strategy and manager guidance
Assist the Capture Manager and Business Development Lead in creation of a Draft Executive Summary and select proposal volumes
Participate in daily stand-up meetings, content readiness reviews, color team reviews as a reviewer and debrief lead
Work with Estimating and Pricing to strategize cost development and justification, including setting the BOE detail level
Advise senior management on the strategies, and their associated risks, that promote the highest probability of winning - Prepare, maintain, and coordinate with functional organizations / division capture teams to keep projects on schedule; identify risks / opportunities to mitigate project issues
Support the Strategic Growth Professional Community, by organizing train and equip content and delivering experiential learning for groups greater than 50 people.
Closely partner with and communicate the operating requirements of the Sector Director of Pursuit and Captures for the DOJO and supported personnel
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 15 years of related experience or 10 years with a Masters
- Previous experience in capture management including one as a capture lead and 2 or more as capture support
- Previous experience leading a team of 5 or more people
- Dynamic self-starter with exceptional interpersonal skills and executive presence
- Demonstrates excellent communications skills (both oral and written) - ability to be persuasive, clear, and concise
- Thorough knowledge of US Government's acquisition process
- Must possess an active Secret Clearance (with the ability to obtain a Top Secret)
- Willingness to travel 25-35% of time
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Business Administration or other relevant graduate degree - Five plus (5+) years in Program Management, Engineering, and Business Development leadership roles - Knowledge of and experience in NGMS' business areas, including business models, structure and programs
- Knowledge of and experience working in an immersive learning environment
- Capture experience that spans DoD, Commercial, and International captures - Active US DoD Top Secret clearance and SCI access
- Experience working in a DOJO and/or Agile environment/tools
- Experience with International captures

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
