Job description

Zurich North America is currently looking for a Wholesale E&S Property Portfolio Manager to join our National Accounts Property (NA Property) portfolio team. This position is responsible for collaborating with segment leadership in managing the Wholesale portfolio nationally. You will report to the NA Property Underwriting Technical Director and preferably be located in Atlanta, New York City or Chicago.

As a member of Zurich's NA Property Team, you will enjoy the opportunity to fully apply your leadership, analytical and underwriting skills. This position will have national accountabilities and the responsibilities of the position include P&L, rate and retention and catastrophe accumulation management as well as referral authorization and implementation and development of underwriting actions and guidelines as warranted based on results. This role is designed to develop, implement and monitor business strategies for the NA Property Wholesale segment and deliver profitable growth of the company's products and services.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Conduct segment analysis and monitor P&L results to ensure we meet profitability and growth objectives, identifying and executing on corrective actions as necessary.
  • Drive the NA Property Wholesale strategy and escalate key underwriting and marketplace issues to the Portfolio team, key business partners and senior management.
  • Provide employees with consistent and clear communication on business strategies, profitability objectives, priorities and accountabilities.
  • Work closely with Head of NA Wholesale Property to develop and mentor the Underwriting staff while delivering on any training needs.
  • Work closely with local field staff at a transactional level on both new and renewal business, working through referrals as necessary.
  • Market NA Property Wholesale products and services through Wholesale brokers.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 10 or more years of experience in the Risk Management or Underwriting or Broker or Carrier or Market Facing area within the commercial Wholesale Property industry
    AND
  • Knowledge of Property product lines and the Excess and Surplus Lines industry


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Property lines expertise with emphasis in risk selection & assessment for the Excess and Surplus Lines Property space
  • Experience in developing Excess and Surplus Lines pricing tools
  • Ability to manage complex portfolios
  • Technical knowledge of insurance operations and functions
  • Strategical component of assessing/anticipating market environment
  • Knowledge of loss trends, triangles, and ratemaking
  • Ability to quantify risk and experience with forecasting methods
  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment
  • Coaching and mentoring experience
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Ability to interact with the C-Suite
  • Knowledge of Property coverages and the ability to analyze manuscript forms
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
