The Associate Scientist - Purification Development's primary role is to design, execute and analyze laboratory and pilot scale experiments for drug substance process development and/or to support tech. transfer activities to GMP DS manufacturing.
This position works days; Monday - Friday

The Role
- Leading development work for and applying technical knowledge of projects in order to develop robust processes that scale effectively to GMP manufacturing as needed
- Designing, executing and interpreting internal and external client experimental plans including DOE; Troubleshooting experiments
- Guiding Assistant and Associate Scientists with troubleshooting and experimental design
- Acting as project lead, including preparing and presenting data to clients informally and formally, with support of Senior or Principle Scientists as necessary
- Maintaining necessary documentation in a lab notebook; Authoring and reviewing technical reports
- Supporting process transfer into manufacturing by providing written and oral communication of the process
- Training of manufacturing associates; Review and approval of documentation, and on-floor support
The Candidate
- Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering or related discipline preferred plus 3-5 years of relevant experience in the biopharmaceutical industry
- MS in Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Microbiology, Chemical Engineering or related discipline or equivalent work experience plus 0-2 years direct relevant experience in the biopharmaceutical environment
- Knowledge of laboratory procedures and operations gained through work experience
- Knowledge and experience with current approaches to purification of biologics including monoclonal antibodies
- Excellent written, oral and organizational skills
- Must be results-oriented with a hands-on attitude in a fast-paced environment
