What is the position where you can grow and make a difference?We are looking for a positive, energetic, self-motivated, detail-oriented and teachable HR Generalist.
This role will support our manufacturing plant in Decatur, IN with a current workforce over 200.What will you do?As a generalist, you will do lots of different things in our quest to be the preferred place to work in Decatur. Some areas of focus:
- Help attract great candidates! You will handle job postings, job fairs, candidate applications, prescreening/interviewing/selection, etc.
- Help deliver a superior new hire onboarding experience - pre-employment processes, conduct day 1 orientation, assist in 30-60-day day training requirements, etc.
- Help engage the workforce through daily floor walks, timely response to employee questions, maintaining the Reward and Recognition board, planning celebrations, etc.
- Help grow people. Assist the HR Manager and Supervisors with strategies and tactics that help people to grow. We want this to be a career for people, not just a job.
- Manage the attendance policy/process.
- Help prepare and interpret metrics that enable informed decision-making and value creation. This would include analysis and plans related to turnover, compensation, onboarding, morale, etc.

- Pay attention to the details in mundane, administrative tasks. (There is a heavy administrative component to the job and a strong attention to detail is a MUST.)
- Exercise judgement - know when to go fast, and know when to slow down; know when to escalate a problem, and know when to handle it directly; etc.
- Use data to help drive continuous improvement. (Will need to know and/or have a willingness to learn MS Excel.)
- A LEARNER. Have a genuine desire to unlearn, relearn, and acquire new skills.
- Prior related / transferrable experience. While our ideal candidate would have HR experience in manufacturing, we are very open to alternatives - a few examples:
- Assistant Manager within the restaurant, retail, rental car, or hospitality areas.
- Production Lead or Supervisor, who aspires to be a Plant Manager one day and wants to learn Human Resources.
- A teacher.
- Humble and teachable, hard worker (efforts counts 2x!), self-motivated.
- While experience may be considered in lieu of a degree, a Bachelor's degree is typically a requirement for this role. Education specific to business administration, human resources, marketing, journalism, math, accounting/finance, or economics is preferred.
