Job Purpose and Impact

Are you passionate about Research and Development? The Chemist is responsible for conducting chemical analysis and experiments related to food safety and developing new knowledge, materials, processes, and products with predefined instructions. You will make certain products meet or exceed customer requirements regarding quality and food safety. We have multiple areas within our organization you will uphold including food safety, process management, data management, quality systems, analytics, and instrumentation.

Key Accountabilities

* Execute experiments at the lab and pilot plant scale following establish operating procedures including set up, cleaning, operation and shut down.
* Collect, analyze, and document test data to make sure products meet customer requirements, quality standards and expectations
* Collaborates with technical professionals and cross functional teams to interpret data and write reports based on test results.
* Conduct sample analysis from various sources to provide insights and information on different materials, products, and ingredients to figure out whether current processes can be optimized to increase efficiency.
* Handle basic issues and problems under direct supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
* Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
* Strong safety and quality-oriented approach
* Experience in a lab/pilot plant environment
* Good computer skills for data tabulation, graphing and analysis

Preferred Qualifications

* Good written and verbal communication skills
* One or more year of work experience in a research field
* Knowledge of safety and food safety requirements for a lab/pilot plant facility of a food manufacturing company
* Knowledge of analytical/wet chemistry techniques (pH , viscosity, moisture, titration, density, screen analysis)
* Strong calculation and presentation skills
* Good organization and writing skills for lab notebook maintenance and timely/accurate technical reports
