BCA Environmental Consultants, LLC (BCA) is a market leading environmental consulting firm seeking a Staff Scientist/Geologist to join our team in the Indianapolis, Indiana office. Selected candidate will perform field work for various environmental projects including Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, other environmental Investigations, and soil & groundwater remediation activities. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, have technical writing and interpersonal communication skills, and be highly client service focused. Assignments will include field investigations, oversight, logging & sampling of soil borings and monitoring wells, vapor intrusion investigation and sampling, remediation systems operations and maintenance support, oversight of excavation activities, report preparation, AutoCAD, perform regulatory and technical research, communicate with subcontractors and clients, etc.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct all tasks necessary to complete a project's scope of work. Activities include, but are not limited to, Phase I and Phase II ESAs, install, develop, and sample monitoring wells, vapor intrusion studies, and design/complete remediation activities on contaminated properties.
- Must be aware of project administration needs including project financial performance, budgeting, recognizing the need for change orders, selecting subcontractors, review of subcontractor invoices, maintaining project files, etc.
- Complete projects at or under budget.
- Know and understand current regulatory requirements and guidance and coordinate with other staff in developing strategies to ensure client compliance.
- Prepare technical reports required to successfully complete projects.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- A Bachelor's degree or higher in environmental science/geology/engineering or related discipline
- 0-5 years of experience as environmental scientist/geologist/engineer
- Must be detail-oriented, and a team player with good communication, analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
- Previous experience (e.g. internships) in environmental consulting & investigation/remediation will be highly considered
- OSHA 40-hour Hazwoper Certification is a plus
- Ability to work within a project team in a fast-paced environment
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires the use of a personal or company vehicle on company business. Candidates must be physically capable of safely operating a motor vehicle, possess a valid driver's license, and have an acceptable driving record.

Job Type: Full-time employment contract for 18 months with opportunity to become permanent employee thereafter.
