Department of Homeland Security - Customs and Border Protection

JOB TITLE: HR Specialist

GOVERNMENT AGENCY : ITC Employee supporting the CBP

POSITION INFORMATION : Full-Time/ Permanent Position

LOCATION: Indianapolis, Indiana

SALARY: $45,000 + full benefits (401k, PTO, Medical, Dental, Vision)

We are currently recruiting for a Junior Human Resources Specialist to support the US Customs and Boarder Protection contract.


Human Resources Specialist

The Human Resource Specialist shall be experienced and possess significant knowledge in one or more areas of human resources support functions, including in-depth knowledge of human resource personnel filing organization, management and disposition/retention policies, particularly in a federal environment. The individual(s) shall have knowledge in aspects of Federal Human Resource program for functional areas assigned as well as a solid grounding in file organization and maintenance procedures. The Junior HR Specialist also shall be experienced in other long and short term projects with minimal supervision. The individual(s) shall perform work by creating, generating and manipulating data for documents, spreadsheets, and databases.


Required:


  • Bachelor's Degree or five years of experience within the area of assignment is required.
  • Ability to pass a US Customs and Boarder Protection background check which includes a credit check.
  • Must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccination by date of hire to be considered. Proof of full vaccination is required.
  • The individual(s) shall possess proven administrative skills relevant to HR operations, including alpha/numeric filing skills and fluently with office equipment as well as ability to use the computer and software comparable with the office.
  • Knowledge of OPM rules and regulations.
  • Ability to work closely with their Team Lead on retirement issues.
  • The individual(s) shall enter, revise, sort, calculate and retrieve data and generates reports for a variety of automated tracking systems/databases.
  • The individual(s) must possess strong oral and written communication capabilities.
