Job description

OBJECTIVES OF THE POSITION:

Under the direct supervision of the Regional Operations Manager performs general security and law enforcement work to protect persons and property and to prevent losses due to accidents, incidents, and criminal behavior. This includes, but is not limited to, protects property against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry and protects staff and visitors from physical violence and/or injury in accordance with established regulations, procedures, and law enforcement practices.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide security services as defined by post orders to assigned client site.
  • Is polite and respectful in all communications.
  • Prohibits unauthorized persons from entering client site.
  • May operate metal detectors, body scanners, and X ray machines depending on assignment.
  • Reports and records incidents such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and malfunctioning of machinery or equipment.
  • Periodically patrols buildings and grounds of work site.
  • Wears full police uniform from their respective law enforcement department or client requested uniform in such instances where the client would prefer a plain clothes officer.
  • Shall be armed with an approved firearm and wear a badge of distinction identifying their status as a law enforcement officer.
  • May operate a motor vehicle and must maintain a valid Indiana Driver License.
  • If regular security officers are assigned to site, will assist security staff when necessary.
  • Will execute custodial arrests when necessary to enforce criminal statutes as defined by the State of Indiana.
  • Will intervene in the case of disputes between client staff, customers, etc., when necessary.
  • Maintain proper paperwork and distribute to appropriate parties to include: patrol reports, incident reports, arrest reports, evidence control, etc.
  • Will adhere to the force continuum in all situations requiring the use of force and will only use the minimum amount of force necessary to stop aggressive and/or resistive behaviors.
  • Carries out lawful orders and requests as needed.
  • Follows all Securatex code of conduct, and ethics policies.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED), Minimum 21 years of age. Must be a sworn member in good standing of a recognized Indiana law enforcement agency with full police authority.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to communicate effectively, orally, and in writing. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers. Ability to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of U.S. Currency. Have an understanding of weights and measures.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense when carrying out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems in routine situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Must have a valid Indiana or State Driver License.
  • Must have graduated from an Indiana Law Enforcement Academy, Reserve Academy, Special Deputy Academy, or equivalent.
  • Must complete all annually required continuing education as required by the Indiana Law Enforcement Training Board or equivalent. Training to be documented and maintained by the officer's respective agency.

While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, and operate a motor vehicle. The employee may be required to monitor closed circuit television and alarm system, and operate two-way radios.

SCHEDULE: Mon-Fri 10:00 am - 2:00 PM, $38.00 per hour
