Project SuperintendentIatShiel Sexton

Project SuperintendentImanages field operationsin a professional mannerand is responsible for the successful completion of the projectwith zero accidents/injuries,on-time,whileassuring quality standardsareachieved.Primary responsibilities includedevelopingthework planand sequence,coordinating allscopes of work and effectively communicatingwith all stakeholders. The Project Superintendentreports directly to the general superintendentand in collaborationwith the Project Manager.

Role Expectations and Competencies

  • Lead and promote the "Expect More" culture that definesShiel Sexton

  • Fundamental ability to supervisefield operationsto ensure projectmeets the Owner's expectations.

  • Effectively communicate with the Owner, designer, contractors, subcontractors,authorities having jurisdiction,andtradestocollaborativelycomplete the projecton-time.

  • Develop a work plan and sequence tomaximize schedule efficiencies.

  • Promote a safety culture to eliminate accidents and injuries.

  • Collaborative planning and leadershipisrequiredto superviseand communicate withShiel Sextoncraft employees andsubcontractors,understand subcontractor's work, andprovide technical assistancewithall aspects ofconstruction.

  • Strong foundation of safety management practices and ability to build a safety mindset and safety culture on the jobsite.

  • Ability to effectively read, understand and visualize allaspects of the Project Documents: Drawings, Specifications and writtennarratives. Very quickly understands a project's entire scope of workand how the various must trades interact throughout construction

  • Creation and management ofComprehensive logisticsand trade executionplansby usingexcellent written and oral communicationwithowners,contractors, and engineers,whileexemplifying fundamental financial awareness when making decisions that have financial impact.

  • Proficient leadership skills to achieve results through people by planning, coordinating, and supervisingon-site functions (scheduling, engineering, material control and may provide day-to-day direction of on-site administrativecraftpersonnel).

  • Proving proficient customer focus by assessing customer's(internal and external) business needs such as assistingproject management in developing and implementing project procedures, working documents, standards, etc.

  • Ensure all on-site personnel comply with project procedures, safety program requirements, and work rules.

  • Fundamentalability to accept accountabilityfor productivity of crafts, efficient use of materials and equipment, and contractual performance of the project, while upholding a proficient level of quality orientation in the workingenvironment, shown throughdaily monitoring,and exemplifyinga results-orientatedmindset to achieve tangible results.

  • Excellent problem solving anddecision-makingskills by identifyingcomplex problems and drawing realistic conclusions.

  • High Level of organization to manageand follow up onmultiple issues simultaneously.High degree of ownership forprompt and accurate resolution of issues.

  • Scheduling proficiency using a variety of platforms from daily and weekly look-ahead'son custom forms and excel tables to Master Schedule updates in ASTA. Key member of Schedule Update team using Shiel Sexton Schedule department as a resource to update Master Schedule within the ASTA software

  • Has completed all assigned, required HR and Legal compliance courses on-time and by due date of assigned.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Ten (10)plusyears' experience in commercial construction.Trade specific background or post-secondary education in construction related degree is preferred.

  • OSHA 30 hourcertified

  • Ability tocomprehenddesign documents anddevelop a work planincorporating all aspects of the project.

  • Proficient leadership skills to achieve results by planning, coordinating, and supervising on-site functions (scheduling, engineering, material control and may provide day-to-day direction of on-site craft personnel).

  • Understandingofbuilding systems including earthwork, utilities, foundations and structural systems, building envelope,fire protection, plumbing, mechanical and electrical systems.

  • Experience with computer-basedmanagementsoftwareprograms such asProcore.

  • Computer based knowledge Word, Excel andOutlook.

  • BIM 360and other 3-D coordination software a plus.
