Job description

The University of Indianapolis invites applications for a visiting position as an Assistant Professor in K-6 Literacy Education. This is a one year, full-time 10-month appointment in the School of Education for the 2 school year only.

The School of Education is known for its strong reputation for producing great teachers and partnering with nearby innovative schools and districts. The recent launch of a cutting-edge interdisciplinary Elementary Education STEM program garners national attention for its innovative approach to preparing transformational teachers and teacher leaders.

Required qualifications include an earned Doctorate in Education (ABD or Master's will be considered). Preference will be given to individuals with a Doctorate in Literacy; in addition to experience teaching in an Elementary building is required.

The successful applicant will teach integrated literacy, supervise undergraduate students in field experiences (clinical course-related and student teaching), and mentor undergraduate students through their programs progression. The successful applicant must be willing to teach courses on campus, in clinical settings, and in online environments and to teach occasional evenings as needed.

This position is highly collaborative thus, the successful applicant will engage with faculty, students, and school and community partners in a manner that highlights creativity, collegiality, and innovation. An active scholarly research agenda, including publications and presentations, will be encouraged.
