Job description

Daviess-Martin County REMC is currently searching for a Communications Specialist. This is the communications position in the Cooperative and reports directly to the Director of Systems Operations. Daviess-Martin County REMC is located in Loogootee, IN and has approximately 7,000 members.

Candidates with experience in communications and/or marketing in an electric cooperative are preferred.

Responsibilities:

Media

1. Maintain a social media presence.
2. Provide updates on storm outages via social media.
3. Update information on the Cooperative's website.
4. Compose pages for the Indiana Connection magazine each month.
5. Compose the internal employee newsletter each month.
6. Prepare slides monthly for the Cooperative's in-office displays.
7. Create/design publications, flyers, stickers, etc. for various events.
8. Serve as the photographer for the Cooperative.

Community/Events

1. Plan, setup and work at 4-H fairs, annual meetings, member appreciation days, key accounts events, etc.
2. Plan, order and assist in distribution of handouts at various events.
3. Participate in local school events, such as career day.
4. Participate in safety demonstrations.
5. Assist with Operation Round-Up functions and presentations.

Sponsorship

1. Review and make recommendations for sponsorship requests.
2. Assist with budget recommendations.
3. Record radio advertisements.
4. Volunteer, when requested as a means of sponsorship, such as IEC Community Day.

Professionalism

1. Assist various departments of the Cooperative, as needed.
2. Attend the communications section meetings with Hoosier Energy and IEC.

Qualifications:

1. A baccalaureate degree in communications, marketing or related field.
2. A valid driver's license.
3. Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office products is required.
4. Knowledge and experience using creative software required, i.e. Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, decision-making and problem-solving skills, self-motivation and creative skills are all required.
