Job Summary
The Purdue Applied Research Institute (PARI) is seeking a Business Development Manager for the new Global Development and Innovation (GDI) Division at Purdue. This person will support the division's goal of working with international development donors such as USAID, MCC, Department of State, and Department of Agriculture as well as foundations such as MacArthur Foundation, Mastercard Foundation, and the Rockefeller Foundation.
As the founding Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating PARI-GDI's efforts to develop and maintain a pipeline of new business. This person will work with the Director of Strategy and Operations and Directors of Practice to develop a business pipeline, maintain a network of partners, and manage financial and human resources to ensure a consistent win rate. Working for a new organization, it is envisioned that this person's role and responsibilities can grow as PARI-GDI grows.
This unique opportunity will provide much-needed intellectual and managerial oversight to design, implement and manage the core processes and materials that will underpin PARI-GDI's business development and partnership efforts, especially proposal development. The Business Development Manager will help create and manage PARI-GDI's business development strategy, approach, and goals.
The Business Development Manager will play a key role on the leadership team and will serve as an information hub coordinating day-to-day activities required for proposal development, moving from one assignment to the other over time according to the ebb and flow of opportunities and portfolio of proposals under development. The Business Development Manager must be familiar with a variety of international development sponsor guidelines and practices as it relates to proposal development. This position is fast-paced, requires teamwork, and will allow the candidate to have diverse responsibilities.
