Technician II (Biological Reagents)
Formerly titled Production Biochemist I
Shift:
M T W Th F 8AM-5PM
Purpose statement:
The Technician II (Biological Reagents) is responsible for the preparation of quality bulk biological reagents.
Job Specific Duties/Essential Functions:
- Prepares biological reagents according to documented procedures and regulations using proper equipment
- Calculates the appropriate number of reagents using basic and advanced math
- Measures and handles materials in a safe and accurate manner
- Documents tasks and work performed in an accurate, efficient, and appropriate manner
- Analyzes data from various analytical instruments
- Determines appropriate course of action based on inputs from the production protocols and analytical data
- Collaborates and participates in a group setting with management in a professional manner
- Demonstrates behavior consistent with the Integrated DNA Technologies Core Values.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Education:
- Associates' degree in a science-related field plus 2 years of applicable lab experience required
- Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry or Microbiology or Science related field preferred.
Professional Experience:
- Previous laboratory, biological reagent, and chemical handling experience required; one or more years preferred
- Proficiency in a variety of PC software programs with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office required

- Proper techniques in handling Biological Reagents
- Ability to record and document accurately and legibly
- Ability to handle chemicals safely in a safe manner
- Ability to collaborate and participate, in a group setting, in a professional manner
- Adapts to changes in the process flow or changes supported by management
Physical Requirements:
Exert 20-50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or 10-15 lbs. of force frequently
