Dietary Aide - Part Time Days - Immanuel Pathways Southwest Iowa

Purpose of the Job:

Responsible for taking orders and serving meals to the participants in a professional manner, as well as prepping dining tables and kitchen areas to facilitate service. Cleans up areas after meal service. Supports and lives out Immanuel's Mission and CHRIST Promises.

Kitchen Support

• Cleans dishes, pots, and pans that are used in food production in the kitchen.
• Clean participant dishes from snacks and lunches.
• Prepares beverages.
• Complete daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning duties.
• Cleans dining area in preparation of meals and after mealtime.
• Assists Cook and Dietary Manager with food preparation as assigned in accordance with food code.

25%

Service

• Builds rapport with participants in a polite and courteous manner.
• Assists participants with meal consumption or other related dining experiences.
• Assists participants in completing menu selections.
• Assists in serving lunch and snacks to participants in a professional manner according to proper serving and clearing standards.

10% Other

• Assists in coverage of the day center.
• Performs related duties as required or requested.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OF JOB

Education-

• High school or equivalent diploma is required.

Experience-

• Six (6) months of food service experience is preferred.
• One (1) year of experience working with the frail or elderly population required, or completion of job specific training related to working with the elderly population must be completed within the first six months of hire.

Other Requirements-

• Must have medical clearance for communicable diseases and up-to-date immunizations before having direct participant contact.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Skills i.e. Health Care Level Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR); Automated External Defibrillator (AED); First Aide (FA).
• Obtain Food Handlers ServSafe Permit within 90 days of start date.

KSA- Knowledge Skills and Abilities-

• Knowledge of food service.
• Skilled in verbal communication, including rapport-building and small talk.
• Ability to repeat duties consistently and handle multiple duties during meal time.
• Ability to speak politely and act courteously when dealing with participants and fellow employees.
