Job description

The Disability Services Assistant provides support to the Coordinator of Disability Services by managing front-line services which includes providing exceptional customer services to students, faculty, and staff inquiring about Disability Services by providing information and answering questions, managing correspondence with students, faculty, and staff, scheduling exams for students with testing accommodations, locating alternative text and distributing text to students in a timely manner, and ensuring confidential documentation is uploaded into appropriate databases in a timely and organized manner.

Required Qualification

Education: High school diploma required.
Experience
Required:
  • Experience that demonstrates sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and disabled backgrounds of community college students.
  • Experience that illustrates a history of successfully collaborating with co-workers on a regular basis to achieve common goals.
  • Experience that demonstrates strong communications skills, as well as strong organizational skills.
  • Experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully work and complete several projects at one time.

Required:

Preferred Qualification

Associate Degree preferred.

  • Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Previous experience and knowledge of RID code of conduct and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and ADA laws.

Physical Demands

Requires prolonged standing or sitting. Requires frequent bending, stooping or stretching.

Salary : $15.00 per hour
