Job description
Two positions available: Buyer l and Buyer ll
Company: Cobham
Location: Davenport, IA
6 month Contract Temp to Hire.
First 60-90 days is fully onsite, After that, some remote work could possibly be considered at manager discretion and according to the current business need.
Buyer I
Cobham is seeking an entry level Buyer I for our rapidly-growing Davenport, IA facility. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team and will plan, schedule and monitor the movement of materials through the production cycle and will determine required materials purchases.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Procure a variety of goods and services in accordance with company policies in an MRP/ERP environment.
Review and issue purchase-orders and make necessary changes, including obtaining quotes, and negotiating costs, payment terms, and related issues.
Expedite and track required parts or processes to support production schedules.
Support purchasing
Assist with executing engineering changes within the plant and with external suppliers.
Serve as liaison between internal Cobham customers and suppliers.
Assist in resolving supplier related quality issues.
Perform duties in accordance with FAR, DFAR, and other government regulations in accordance with Cobham policies and procedures.
Perform all duties according to prescribed safety, health, and environmental principles.
Ability to work well in team environment.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Buyer II
Cobham is seeking a Buyer for our rapidly-growing Davenport, IA facility. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team and will plan, schedule and monitor the movement of materials through the production cycle and will determine required materials purchases.

Expected to mentor less experienced buyers and internal Cobham customers.

Occasional travel is required.
Perform all duties according to prescribed safety, health, and environmental principles.
Ability to work well in team environment.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Buyer l
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree without industry experience, or Associates Degree plus 2 years' experience in a manufacturing environment, or High School Diploma (or equivalent) plus 5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment
Desired Qualifications:
Previous negotiating experience
Previous purchasing experiencing in a manufacturing environment
Working knowledge of ERP or MRP Systems
Experience reading blueprints
Documented MS Office experience: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Any current relevant professional certifications
Demonstrated verbal, written, and presentation skills
Buyer ll
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree plus 2 years' experience in manufacturing environment, or an Associate's degree plus 4 years' experience in a manufacturing environment, or High School Diploma (or equivalent) plus 7 years' experience in a manufacturing environment
3+ Years negotiating experience
3+ Years purchasing experiencing in a manufacturing environment
Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in one of the following areas: Business, Finance, or Supply Chain
Professional certifications (i.e. APICS, ISM, etc.)
Working knowledge of ERP or MRP Systems
Experience reading blueprints
Documented MS Office experience: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Demonstrated verbal, written, and presentation skills
