Finance brings together enterprise functions that drive Wells Fargo's financial management, including accounting and control, financial planning and analysis, line of business finance, asset-liability management, treasury, tax management, and the company's investment portfolios. They also inform shareholders, regulators, taxing authorities, employees, and leaders of the company's financial performance through earnings releases, investor meetings and conferences, and meetings with regulators and credit rating agencies, following appropriate reporting guidelines.

The Controllers Division delivers subject matter expertise, counsel, governance, and oversight for all Wells Fargo controllership activities to the business units and staff groups. The division includes the following functional areas: Accounting Business Unit Support, Accounting Operations, Enterprise Controls & Oversight, Enterprise Financial Reporting, and Corporate Tax.

The Financial Accounting Senior Consultant will be responsible for a variety of work efforts supporting the Home Lending Controllers Team within the Consumer Banking and Lending Division.
The Senior Consultant will be responsible for the accounting of complex accounting areas including troubled debt restructuring (TDR) and loan charge-offs. The role will also be responsible for managing complex accounting projects in support of business and corporate initiatives; creating and implementing controls to ensure accuracy of accounting processes; enforcing adherence to accounting principles and policies; and managing response and resolution to audit inquiries.

This role will also focus on SEC and Regulatory reporting and understanding the data flow to ensure accuracy and completeness in the external filings. The role will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with COSO standards as well as the internal Governance and Oversight Framework. This role will also partner closely with Home Lending Servicing teams to ensure business transactions and system of record data is reported appropriately as well as partner with other credit and corporate teams to provide line of business accounting support.

Responsibilities include:
• Provide line of business accounting support
• Provide month end financial reporting analysis for variances and other metrics
• Support the month end, quarter end, and annual close process
• Collaborate, engage, and support projects that span across the Home Lending businesses
• Develop and maintain strong business relationships with leadership across Wells Fargo and other stakeholders, such as the Line of Business, Credit, Servicing and others within Controllers
• Maintain a robust control environment, including reconciliations, and remediate issues with urgency
• Be a key change agent in building and adopting best practices
• Maintain knowledge of Wells Fargo accounting and regulatory reporting policies
• Understand and ensure compliance and risk management policies
• Lead complex accounting research and projects
• Manage ad hoc projects with a sense of urgency

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: finance, accounting, analytics, financial reporting, accounting reporting or risk reporting demonstrated through work or military experience; or a BS/BA or higher in Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, or Business and 4+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: finance, accounting, analytics, financial reporting, accounting reporting or risk reporting



Desired Qualifications

  • A BS/BA degree or higher in one or a combination of the following: Finance, Accounting, Analytics, or Reporting
  • Ability to manage effectively in a matrixed organization
  • 2+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: SEC reporting, technical accounting or accounting policy
  • 2+ years of public accounting experience
  • User Acceptance Testing (UAT) experience
  • Experience writing Business Requirements Documents (BRD's)
  • An active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
  • Ability to manage multiple project and process implementations
  • Ability to quickly and accurately execute tactical deliverables
  • Strong accounting skills
  • Project management experience
  • Ability to identify and present processes/operational enhancements
  • Ability to articulate issues, risks, and proposed solutions to various levels of staff and management
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
