POSITION SUMMARY

This position is a salaried, exempt position based in Keokuk, IA reporting directly to the Director of Quality Services located in St. Louis, MO.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is responsible for working with the Director of Quality Services and other team members to ensure product safety and the quality of all food products in assigned facilities.

  • Responsible for the quality control aspects of raw materials and finished products.
  • Prepare reports on each test performed for measuring quality, quantity, and composition.
  • Compute production specific factors using chemical and mathematical procedures.
  • Assist in setting quality standards and ensure that production is maintained at such standards.
  • Promote quality achievement and performance improvement across the organization.
  • Partner with all departments (Operations, Maintenance, etc.) to troubleshoot, identify root cause, and implement corrective actions.
  • Partner with all departments (Operations, Maintenance, etc.) to build the food safety culture.
  • Assess supplier and company product specifications to meet customer requirements.
  • Direct microbiological test requirements.
  • Establish and maintain controls and documentation to ensure quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Perform quality & food safety-related training to all employees.
  • Ensure tests and procedures are updated and properly understood and enforced to maintain compliance.
  • Continuously monitor the facility for compliance regulatory, company standards, certifications, and customer requirements.
  • Sustain document control to maintain SQF certification requirements and other certifications, as required.
  • Act as the key contact for customer auditors and conducts Food Safety/Quality meetings.
  • Manage and develop the Quality team.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES

  • Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Food Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field is required.
  • Experience in food industry Quality Assurance/Control laboratory is preferred.
  • HACCP certification, SQF Practitioner certification, FSPCA Preventative Controls for Human Food/PCQI Certification and Good Manufacturing/Laboratory Practices are strongly preferred.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly throughout shift is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
