POSITION SUMMARY

The incumbent in this position is responsible for the supervision of the Human Resources team in day-to-day employment operations, to ensure the completion of administrative processes associated with the hiring process; responsible for counseling team members and providing guidance with work related problems and Human Resources policy interpretation; assists in team member development, orientation, and communication programs; serves as internal consultant to supervisors and managers, taking a proactive approach to conflict resolution, team building, and achievement of department morale standards.

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

* Responsible for evaluating, training and motivating the Human Resources Department staff by answering questions regarding interviewing techniques and direct hiring policies to ensure compliance with state and federal employment laws.
* Communicates with all levels of management to ensure adequate staffing levels and hiring standards are met.
* Reviews and analyzes information about grievances furnished by both team members and managers to make recommendations for corrective action.
* Assists management in development and implementation of Human Resource policies and procedures to ensure that they embrace the company's team member relations philosophies and that they are executed consistently, fairly and equitably.
* In conjunction with the Director of Human Resources, may represent Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sioux City in all unemployment issues. May respond to unemployment claims, prepare witnesses for hearings and conduct hearings and Board of Review appeals.
* Conducts team member interviews to gauge the ongoing climate of team member satisfaction and thereby allow for the early detection and resolution of problems.
* Audits department procedures and administration of department policies and procedures to ensure consistency with team member relations goals, and proper administration of Human Resources policies.
* Advises and consults departments, as a Human Resources generalist, in matters pertaining to human resources policies and programs, providing a broad-based overview of programs and policies for department planning, administration, and team member problem resolution.
* Responsible for monitoring and input of transfers, wage increases, performance evaluations, time off requests for all departments.
* Oversees the postings for available positions and proper placement of advertising for current job openings.
* Assists in recruitment functions, coordinating job fairs and employment events.
* Assists other HR staff members in coordinating company events such as team member parties, holiday events, and other team member events.
* Responds to employment verifications and prepares letters of employment.
* Perform other related duties as may be assigned.

Must have ability to:

* Communicate effectively with all levels of team members as well as outside contacts.

* Review, comprehend and respond to all necessary information.
* Perform in a fast-paced environment.
* Process employment applications and select qualified candidates based upon criteria.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in managing programs for organization of 500+ team members as Human Resources Manager preferred. Understanding of, and ability to effectively work as a Human Resources Manager with training programs and employment systems are important. Detailed understanding of supervisory and skills development, new hire orientation, and Human Resources policies is mandatory. Ability to plan and coordinate events and activities. Knowledge of employment practices and EEOC laws required. Knowledge of behavioral interviewing techniques helpful. Knowledge of effective supervisor and evaluation techniques helpful. Effective communication and presentation skills required. These skills and abilities are typically acquired through the completion of a high school education or the equivalent in addition to three years' experience as a Human Resources generalist; or through a bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a closely related field, and three years related experience.

REGULATORY AND COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

In addition to the other duties described herein, every team member has the following responsibilities related to compliance with laws and regulations:

* Attend required training sessions offered by the Hard Rock.
* Perform the duties described in compliance with local laws and regulations.
* Take the necessary steps to ensure minors are not allowed to gamble or loiter in gambling areas, drink alcoholic beverages, or purchase tobacco.
* Have knowledge of the ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the team member's department.
* Consult Internal Control Procedures and Policy Manuals for guidance.
* Report illegal activity to Security or the appropriate levels of Management
