Responsibilities:
Manages the day-to-day operations within the Risk Services unit; sets priorities; and utilizes staff and resources to maximize efficient performance. Plans, organizes, coordinates, and assigns risk evaluations/services for existing and prospective insured clients to the field team. Reviews, analyzes, and routinely audits risk services associate survey reports to assure accuracy, quality, timeliness, and compliance with company standards.

Actively represents the risk services function throughout the company, including ongoing collaboration with Underwriting, Business Development, Claims, Marketing, HR and IT departments. Develops, trains, and supervises personnel in planning, developing, implementing and administering programs designed to aid policyholders in the identification and control of hazards to prevent and/or reduce on the job injuries, property damage, fleet and third-party liability claims. Develops processes and procedures for continuous risk profile improvement; proactively and routinely interacts with policyholders and agents/brokers to optimize the impact of risk services. May perform risk evaluations of insurance prospects as needed or requested.

Assures appropriate and innovative delivery of risk services to support the business goals of the Company. Recruits, trains, mentors, and leads risk services associates and activities to ensure customer service, quality and productivity objectives are met. Provides frequent and specific constructive feedback to staff.

Maintains a working knowledge of agribusiness and food production industry trends and associated risks. Surveys commercial agribusiness properties such as buildings, industrial operations, agribusiness operations, and commercial vehicles to evaluate physical conditions, safety practices, and hazardous situations according to knowledge of safety standards, established underwriting guidelines and governmental regulations.

Provides guidance and technical advice to underwriting and claims management regarding Risk Services issues, product selection, State reporting requirements, claims trending, and insurance to value on property.

Assists the AVP, Risk Services and WRBC Regulatory Compliance staff to ensure compliance with applicable State requirements.

Research, review and select reference materials for Risk Services staff and customers.

Facilitates Risk Services training seminars for staff and customers.

Manages staff of 5-9 direct reports. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and corrective actions for employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Must be fully vaccinated and remain fully vaccinated against COVID-19 unless prohibited by law. *

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with emphasis in engineering, science, or occupational safety; or 10 years related experience with property/casualty risk control; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Strong demonstrated leadership abilities highly desired. Must have in-depth technical experience in risk control disciplines including, but not limited to, fire safety, electrical safety, life safety, industrial hygiene, risk management, construction methods, agriculture risks, transportation risks, etc.

Ability to represent the company to internal and external clients in a positive and effective manner; lead people and get results through others; organize and manage multiple priorities; communicate effectively with all levels of the organization; attract, coach and develop talent; interpret and perform building valuations using Marshall & Swift/Boeckh programming; and interpret blueprints and utilize computer-aided drafting (CAD) software programs. Must possess problem analysis and problem resolution skills at both a strategic and functional level; strong customer orientation, and interpersonal and communication skills including presentations skills. Regularly and consistently demonstrates commitment to company values and guiding principles. Ability to travel on a regular basis, including overnight, and work outside normal work schedule to fulfill responsibilities. Proficient with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams. Experience with data warehousing programs is helpful.

Licenses/Certifications/Designations

Valid driver's license for travel. Completion of professional designation or certification preferred, (e.g., CSP, PE, CFPS, OHST, CIH, CHST, ARM, CPCU.)
