As the company's second line of defense, Corporate Risk - or Independent Risk Management - provides independent oversight of risk-taking activities. Independent Risk Management establishes and maintains Wells Fargo's risk management program and provides oversight, including challenges to and independent assessment of, the frontline's execution of its risk management responsibilities. We manage risk according to the Risk Management Framework and ensure all employees understand their individual accountability for managing risk. Corporate Risk roles depend on a variety of skills, including: Data analysis and synthesis, root cause analysis, change management, process management & execution, risk governance, risk strategy, risk identification & assessment, risk prevention, controls & mitigation, risk monitoring, reporting & escalation, risk systems & technology.

The Third Party Consumer Law Oversight (TPCLO) team within Wells Fargo Compliance Third Party provides enterprise oversight and guidance to address consumer risks presented by third party service providers (TPSPs). The TPCLO team focuses on risks resulting from consumer financial protection laws and regulations.

This position is for a Compliance Manager who will lead a team of Compliance Associates and Senior Associates who execute Consumer Financial Law (CFL) Reviews on TPSPs. This position will partner across IRM and serve as the primary point of contact for Home Lending to assess regulatory compliance risks & impacts as well as potential enhancements to the existing CFL Review process. As a Compliance Manager, you are expected to achieve success by leading yourself, your team and the business.

Job Responsibilities include:

  • Lead a team of Compliance Associates and Senior Associates responsible for executing Consumer Financial Law (CFL) Reviews for Home Lending and communicating findings to the appropriate line of business and TPSP. Ensure SLA adherence specific to CFL review milestones; challenge past due SLAs and validate documented rationale, timely follow-up, and resolution
  • Drive improved CFL review quality through utilization of QA data and other quality measurements; provide coaching/feedback to team members individually and at the team level
  • Complete Manager Review including final review of reports. Provide guidance, review support, and direction to CFL Review consultants
  • Provide recommendations on improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the CFL Review process; utilize Change Management process accordingly and provide TPCLO Program Team with feedback specific to program enhancements impacting the CFL Review Execution Team
  • Mitigate risk in the third party space by maintaining connectivity with key stakeholders across LOBs, Compliance, IT&V via regular meetings
  • Perform any of the duties of the Associates/Senior Associates as required to conduct any level of the CFL Review requirements, as needed
  • Serve as a SME for the larger CFL Review Team for consumer facing third party activities, including associated regulatory risks and related internal processes
  • Review and provide challenge of regulatory risks identified in completed CFL assessments
  • Identify consumer financial law impacts and opportunities to reduce regulatory compliance risk in partnership with the LOB

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in risk management (includes compliance, financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, business process management) or 7+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 5+ years must include direct experience in risk management
  • 2+ years of leadership experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge of consumer financial law regulations and/or third party risk management
  • Operational risk & compliance knowledge with experience assessing risk and the adequacy of policies, procedures, processes and controls
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and adherence to strict deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to assess and communicate issues, implement solutions, and influence change within deadlines
  • Experience leading a team in a matrixed environment
  • Experience writing and communicating issues to business partners, such as in an audit or testing environment
  • Team player with the ability to integrate into a constantly changing environment
  • Self-starter and demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision, adapt and adjust to changing work priorities and to multitask
  • TRIMS experience
  • Ability to manage conflict and provide credible challenge to leaders when necessary
  • Experience reviewing policies, procedures and controls
  • Proficiency in Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and SharePoint
  • CRCM certification
