Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Function)

The purpose of this position is to safely supervise machining services in a cost-effective manner, while maintaining regulatory and internal compliance. Compliance responsibilities include shop safety programs, environmental compliance, Occupational Safety and Health Administration compliance, Department of Transportation driver compliance, API 1104 and ASME code compliance and Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration compliance. Operational responsibilities include managing machining personnel and processes, improving existing production methods, developing new products, promoting machining services and managing customer relationships. The position is also responsible for job tracking, materials procurement, management of the machining services materials inventory and budget management for machining activities. The position will provide required and supplemental training for machining services. The position will provide technical mechanical support to compression services and operations personnel as required.

Typical Duties

Operate and maintain the machine shop at Clifton, Kansas, to meet safety, environmental and financial goals. Provide emergency or urgent work under tight deadlines with little advance notice to prevent system outages or minimize project delays. Formulate and implement manufacturing policies and programs to improve net savings. Work with other resources to develop manufacturing processes and drawings for all products. (60-70%)

Develop machining services employee's mechanical understanding by sharing technical experience with employees. Provide required and supplemental training for machining services to include safety and environmental procedure training, and developmental technical training as required. (10-15%)

Review and measure employee activities for assigned projects to assure the work is organized and effectively accomplished by skilled employees with quality and attention to detail. (10-15%)

Manage inventory items to ensure component availability for critical projects. (5-10%)

Prepare, monitor, and manage machining services portion of the annual budget and business continuity plan. Evaluate processes for tracking and evaluating production failures and implement product design changes to improve quality. (5-10%)

Develop quality improvement programs and implement innovative production/manufacturing methods. (5-10%)

Develop strategic and operational plans for control, management, and improvement of machining services' capabilities and for ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives. Participate in the development of the corporate and departmental business plans (5-10%)

Perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. (0-5%)

Qualifications

Six or more years of related experience in a manufacturing or production environment, with a proven history of progressively responsible supervisory or leadership ability.
Understanding of production scheduling and quality guidelines and procedures.

Must be results-oriented with an entrepreneurial attitude.

Effective oral and written communication skills, including presentation and negotiations skills.

Effective interpersonal skills and leadership abilities.

Effective analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Project management skills including ability to prioritize and handle multiple issues and projects concurrently.

Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without an accommodation.
