Family Stabilization & Volunteer Assistant -Ballard

* Provide advocacy and direct services to pantry clients; address needs through one-on-one communications to increase understanding of circumstances and link individuals to services provided by the Ballard Center and/or community partners •Work with key Ballard staff to list current gaps in knowledge about service delivery, increase understanding of Ballard's goals for improving pantry services, and establish effective data gathering process to understand gaps •Design and carry out activities for gathering feedback from clients regarding current pantry services; interview pantry clients to better understand their life situation and how pantry services help them and their family; learn more about strategies used by people living in poverty to improve family stability •Monitor and identify service requests routinely requested by Ballard clients; work with Family Connections Stabilization Director to consider if this service is something Ballard could/should offer, i.e., access to discounted eyeglasses •Work with community partners and employers to increase utilization of the Ballard Center clothing pantry as a resource for work wear •Research best practices for increasing the number of new families who are aware of and take advantage of Harvester mobile food distribution services; reach out to other mobile food pantries on the community to learn about their outreach efforts; use these data to implement new outreach efforts •Work with community organizations and individuals to increase pantry donations related to high need items such as jeans, seasonal clothing, diapers, personal care items and canned foods •Source and recruit volunteers on as-needed basis. •Be able to speak to volunteers about Ballard and its mission. Member Duties : Provide advocacy and direct services to pantry clients. Establish effective data gathering process to understand gaps. Design and carry out activities to gather feedback from clients and identify service requests routinely requested by Ballard clients. Work with community partners and employers to increase utilization of the clothing pantry as a resource for work wear. Research and recommend best practices to implement outreach efforts Work with community organizations and individuals to increase pantry donations related to high need items. Source and recruit volunteers. Gather and input volunteer interest forms and be able to communicate, with gratitude, what current Ballard needs are and track both new and old volunteers. Arrange for orientation and/or tour when needed. Manage requests for volunteering from community members as well as manage and gather requests from staff for volunteer needs. Be able to connect volunteers to staff needs.
