Job description
We are looking for a self-starter Field Service Technician to provide a quality customer experience and trusted repairs. You must have physical strength, endurance and work well with your hands. Strong communication and basic mathematical skills are essential (e.g., reading a tape measure, fractions, calculating square footage). Your job will entail driving a company truck to different locations to install, maintain, and repair (interior or exterior) structures.
Starting Pay: $55,000-$75,000 per year ~ Military Veterans are highly encouraged to apply. ~
To succeed in this role, you must work with little supervision while following procedures, safety standards and knowing when to bring management in on decisions. We love it when people ask questions! You should have the ability to use hand tools, climb ladders, and work on scaffolds. You will handle equipment and materials for various tasks. (e.g., lumber, concrete, brick and mortar, etc.) If you enjoy the feeling of building something with your hands and admiring a job well done, then we'd like to meet you.
HELPING YOU ENHANCE YOUR SKILLSET
Paid training is provided to all new technicians; however, experience working in other trades will help you advance much faster (e.g., civil engineering, masonry, carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, pipefitting, roofing, welding, military, heavy equipment, laying concrete, or general construction). While technical knowledge and skills will be developed through your on-the-job training, you must be well-organized with an eye for detail. Being a team player and following instructions and safety rules are also important. Once trained, you'll be certified and able to assemble, maintain and repair all styles of fireplaces, wood stoves, and appliance chimneys.
Responsibilities- Follow safety guidelines and use protective equipment
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment
- Choose appropriate tools and materials based on mechanical needs
- Use hand and power tools and other equipment (e.g. pneumatic drill, saws, ladder, etc.)
- Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed
- Load equipment and prepare trucks for departure
- Unload trucks and carry materials onto work sites
- Prepare job sites for construction operations
- Build and break down scaffolding with attention to safety
- Use equipment to demolish or break old forms and structures
- Clean up roof and grounds to remove debris and discarded materials
- Cut, assemble and install steel chimney liner systems
- Perform a variety of on-site installations, repairs, maintenance tasks (e.g. prefab assembly, concrete mixing, wood-working, brick-masonry work.)
- Apply sealants and/or moisture protection applications to completed structures
- Install various types of heating and venting systems to ensure functionality
- Prepare and apply materials to build structures or fill gaps and brick joints
- Smooth and level new concrete or other materials
- Provide customer support as needed, during field visits
- Collaborate with other workers to produce a finished project
- Ability to work weekdays plus a willingness to work overtime
- Willingness to wear protective gear and follow safety guidelines
- Good problem-solving skills and understanding of basic math
- Attention to detail
- Good physical condition and endurance
- Experience using various hand tools and precision measurement tools
- Able to work in a team and participate in training
- Very good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow established procedures and instructions
- Excellent balance and eye-hand coordination
- A strong commitment to all health and safety guidelines
- Ability to work at heights for long hours; and lift heavy loads up to 60-80 lbs
- Friendly with a great deal of patience
- Proficient in English
- Valid driver's license
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Technical degree or certificate in HVAC or relevant field or working knowledge of heating and ventilation systems as well as appliances is a plus (not required)
