Summary:
KCNSC is looking for Engineers and Scientists with experience in applying and/or developing physics-based simulation tools. Core projects involve mechanical non-linear finite element simulations using Abaqus or ANSYS to include: •Two and three dimensional mechanical simulations of individual piece parts and assemblies including resolution of bonded, interference, and frictional contact between assembly components. •Stress and displacement analysis, vibration analysis, nonlinear material deformation and failure prediction, nonlinear large deflection simulations. •Transient and steady state heat transfer
The position requires a small amount of travel, and can be computer intensive work. Candidates with greater experience are encouraged to apply and will be considered at the level commensurate with candidate credentials and as warranted by current business requirements.
Summary of Duties:
- Evaluate product designs and manufacturing processes using simulation technologies
- Develop / improve techniques for analyzing product designs and manufacturing processes
- Aid in future development of software/hardware for simulation support
- Interface with both internal KCNSC customers and Design Agency partners
- Must be able to work in cross functional teams
- Conducts activities in a safe and healthy manner and work in accordance with established HS&E requirements to ensure the protection of associates, the public, and the environment.
You Must Have:
- US citizenship needed to obtain and maintain required US Dept of Energy "Q" level security clearance.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering discipline from an ABET accredited program/institution, or Physics from an accredited program.
- Six (6) or more years of relevant experience in mechanical design, analysis, and/or manufacturing, to include experience applying simulation tools.

- Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science , or Computer Science
- Self motivated, pro-active, and the ability to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities
- Ability to interface effectively with support organizations, internal customers, and external customers through verbal and written communication
- Ability to lead technical teams through complex individual tasks or projects
