Work Hours/Shift:

Full Time, Days

You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Serves as an expert on AdventHealth Laboratory Information Systems including Cerner, Athena, interfaces, and others as applicable.
  • Resource for all LIS, patient and client billing applications and work-flows.
  • Provides LIS training for all laboratory staff and others as appropriate.
  • Coordinates functional and quality assurance aspects of LIS including test builds, report generation, instrument interfacing, auto-verifications and all annual and biennial regulatory validations; reference ranges, QC program, proficiency testing and CAP compliance.
  • Sets up new tests in LIS; makes needed changes to existing test structure; validates new instruments functionality from a LIS standpoint.
  • Serves as Lab representative and liaison for all Information System functions and connectivity, including communication and coordination with AH AIT, Cerner PathNet, Epic and HIM.
  • In collaboration with Laboratory Medical Director and Director of Laboratory Services, develops, implements, and monitors programs for Point of Care Testing (POCT) in the clinical Areas.
  • Provides consultative services to clinical staff and providers for POCT in a positive manner.
  • Works collaboratively with Nursing Services in the hospital and AHMG staff to ensure all CLIA regulations are being met.
  • Provides technical consultation and standardizes laboratory policies and procedures for use by clinical staff.
  • Performs Needs Assessment for new or revised POC and ensures submission to the appropriate regulatory agencies.
  • Ensures all Joint Commission, CLIA and State of Kansas standards and regulations are being observed.
  • Makes sure that the point-of-care department policies and actual practices throughout the MidAmerica Region are in accordance with Federal and State regulations.
  • Performs, reviews, and evaluates proficiencies, competencies, and validate laboratory procedures for the point-of-care department
  • Supports front line staff and section team leaders as needed in IT and POC issues.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible schedules required to oversee the operations of the laboratory.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements with CLIA, State of Kansas, OSHA, CAP, TJC.
  • Strong clinical and technical skills to translate front line staff needs into work processes and supportive IT technology.
  • Demonstrates leadership qualities, organizational and service management skills.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office products, etc.) needed to develop and maintain laboratory documents and performance improvement records.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in written form with persons of varied backgrounds in a respectful, effective manner.
  • Collaborative mindset to work with various departments for successful projects.
  • Manages and operates laboratory equipment safely and correctly. Follows established policies for equipment maintenance, reporting and documenting need for repair.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of new testing methods, products, instrumentation; remains informed on all current technologies.

Qualifications

What You Will Need:

  • Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology Required
  • 5 Years of Laboratory Experience, with some working knowledge of POC and LIS
  • MT ASCP or equivalent preferred

Job Summary:

Provides oversight of Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) functions, implementations, maintenance, improvements competencies and interfaces to ensure smooth lab operations and reporting of clinical information.

Provides oversight of hospital and all regional site Point of Care Testing (POCT) (waived and non-waived) in accordance with the Statutes of the State of Kansas, Joint Commission and CLIA including development of a competency assessment program for laboratory and non-laboratory personnel.
