Job description
Spur Design is looking for a full-time Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. The ideal candidate is organized, a motivated self-starter, detail oriented, and collaborative.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Provide mechanical and plumbing engineering design and documentation on projects within Spur Design including client liaison, project design, contract documentation, and construction administration.
- Take responsibility for time management of assigned jobs. Keep an accurate daily record of the time spent on each assigned job, billable and non-billable.
- Proactively pursue training and development of junior staff both within and outside of project related tasks.
- Work with mechanical discipline lead, director of design, and operations manager to contribute toward the improvement of Spur Design's methods and processes.
- Support requests for assistance related to marketing, project interviews, level of effort estimates, and project proposals.
- Attend office meetings and report on a regular basis regarding the progress of individual projects and junior staff.
- Travel for (but not limited to) site visits, professional collaborations, and satellite office visits.
- Assist in the day to day operations of the Spur Design offices.
- Assist in the maintenance of office systems including updating of trade libraries and filing systems.
- Act at all times to ensure the safety of yourself, other staff, clients, and visitors.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 4+ years of experience in the Mechanical and Plumbing construction design field.
- Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited four-year college or university in mechanical engineering, architectural engineering, or a related field preferred.
- PE Licensure is preferred.
- Able to balance project deadlines, responsiveness to project changes, training of junior staff, push the design standards of the department forward, and maintain the quality of them all.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a high attention to detail.
- Proficiency with various software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Bluebeam, etc.
- Drafting knowledge and experience with AutoCAD and Revit is a plus.

- Health Insurance and retirement benefits are included in the Total Annual Compensation and are the choice of each individual employee.

- Retirement benefits include matching 401k contributions of 1-for-1 matching up to 3% and 1-for-2 matching up to 5%, with a maximum match of 4% for a 5% employee contribution. This plan is a "safe harbor" eligible plan and, subsequently, no vesting period is required past initial eligibility requirements.
- Spur Design also offers reimbursement of training and professional organization dues or fees with prior approval by ownership.
