Lawrence Community Shelter Volunteer Program VISTA

The Volunteer Program VISTA Member will build the capacity of The Lawrence Community Shelter (LCS) by assisting the Volunteer Program Manager, under the guidance of the Community Engagement Director, in growing the comprehensive volunteer program which helps improve the quality of service and care for individuals experiencing homelessness in Douglas County. This AmeriCorps position will impact poverty by generating sustained volunteer support which helps create a more effective emergency shelter. Member Duties : The Volunteer Program VISTA will assess the current recruitment, orientation, coordination, management, and tracking of volunteers at LCS, and assist with development and/or revision of Program processes. The VISTA member will also implement Volunteer Program refinements and expansions based on assessment, and expand outreach systems and build/manage partnerships with local organizations in order to recruit volunteers and sustain volunteer engagement.
