Job description

BASIC FUNCTION

Lab Technician will perform necessary maintenance to plating tanks, dispense chemicals to maintain plating bath health, maintain chemical inventory, process hazardous waste, and perform other duties assigned by team leader.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to:

Chemistry Team Leader

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Plating tank maintenance


2. Prepare and maintain laboratory inspections and test records


3. Performs all duties assigned by team leader


4. Conduct daily and weekly testing on plating tanks, as well as prepare samples for shipment to outside laboratories for testing


5. Processing of hazardous waste


6. Performs chemical additions to plating tanks


7. 5-S plating room and lab


8. Maintain chemical inventory


9. Ensures that the handling, accumulation, and disposal of all hazardous & universal waste streams complies with all local, state, and federal laws as applicable.

STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE

1. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work methodically, accurately and neatly


2. Ability to communicate professionally with customers, vendors and all levels of the organization

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Good use of analytical skills


2. Ability to lift 50 lbs

EDUCATION, Experience and TRAINING

1. High School Diploma or GED required


2. Experience in a chemistry lab or similar laboratory experience preferred


3. Annual site specific training conducted at the facility

equipment and Tools

1. Good computer skills, specifically understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel


2. Use or knowledge of laboratory testing equipment


3. Good mechanical and electrical knowledge
