OVERVIEW: The Laboratory Technician position will be in the Refining Analytical and Development organization located in Catlettsburg, KY. This position will support refining customers by performing routine analytical testing of crude oil and hydrocarbon process streams. The position is primarily M-F day shift but may require overtime and weekend coverage.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Performs analytical testing with adherence to standard operating procedures; generates highly accurate, timely, and defensible results.
* Operates and maintains various analytical instruments used to support the daily operation of the lab
* Follows all applicable safety procedures
* Communicates effectively with customers
* Adheres to laboratory quality control protocols
* Maintains good housekeeping
* Demonstrates ethics and integrity is all aspects of the job

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

* Bachelor's degree in chemistry or science equivalent with at least 20 hours of chemistry required
* A course in Analytical Chemistry is highly recommended

HELPFUL SKILLS:

* Experience with chromatography, physical property testing, and/or elemental analysis
* Experience with handling and testing of hydrocarbon/petroleum materials
* Basic understanding of SQC techniques
* Good mechanical aptitude
* Familiarization with LIMS
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office

ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS:

* Weekend coverage and shiftwork possible.
* Overtime can be expected.
* Minimal travel
