Job description
Kelly Scientific is seeking a Laboratory Coordinator in Covington, KY.
Temp to Hire
Compensation: $18-$20/hour
Shift: 9am-5pm Monday- Friday
The Laboratory Administrator is responsible for the purchasing, monitoring inventory and reordering of laboratory supplies. Coordinate with vendors providing services for the laboratory, such as equipment maintenance, medical gases, and chemical and biological waste pickup. Shipping of packages domestically and internationally from the laboratory.
Key duties/responsibilities:
- Monitor procurement, use, and, if needed, disposal of chemicals and biologicals used in the lab.
- Ensure that appropriate safety self-inspections are maintained and maintain required safety data on chemicals purchased.
- With the Lab Director, research safety programs and trainings for the laboratory staff as needed.
- Maintain the Laboratory Asset List, updating as new items are purchased or old ones are retired. Send all updates to the Lab Director, Office Manager, and the Financial Service Team.
- Schedule laboratory equipment routine maintenance calls, as well as keeping an updated service contact list in case of equipment malfunction.
- Be responsible for regulated handling and shipping of packages as requested by staff.
- Maintain appropriate shipping supplies and contact lists.
- Purchase products and materials on behalf of company as assigned by the staff.
- Building and maintaining relationships with vendors.
- Compare product deliveries with issued purchase orders and contact vendors when there are discrepancies.
- Handle administrative duties relating to purchases, obtaining quotes, tracking orders, matching invoices to credit card bill, and ensuring records are kept up to date.
- Implement company's purchasing policies and procedures, working closely with the Financial Services Team to maintain financial records for audit.
- Handle collection and distribution of all company laboratory invoices for signature by appropriate staff, turning approved invoices into Financial Services for timely payment.
- Be available to help staff with other projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- MUST HAVE 2-3 years of relevant experience. Ideally, an associate's, or bachelor's degree in a related scientific field.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to details.
- Can think critically, enjoys problem-solving and likes to learn.
- Able to follow directions and work independently to complete tasks.
- Able to build repeatable processes while remaining flexible.
- Able to communicate and respond effectively and efficiently in situations.
- Able to create and administer a task priority list based on company needs.
- Enjoys working in a small team environment.
