Job Summary

This position is a team lead in the College of Dentistry Billing and Collections division and will cover for the Billing & Collections Manager in her absence. The person is this position is responsible for posting patient and insurance payments for College of Dentistry patients in the patient billing system. The posting of insurance payments includes account analysis, and processing denials, adjustments, and secondary insurance. This position will also be responsible for managing the calls and emails in the Dentistry Portal on Billing and Collections issues and maintaining an effective filing system.

Given the COVID-19 pandemic, and the need to protect our university community including our students, staff, faculty and visitors, the University of Kentucky is requiring COVID-19 vaccination for all new hires prior to starting employment. Therefore, as of October 18, 2021, all new hires prior to their first day of employment must submit appropriate documentation showing, i) completion of the first vaccination against COVID-19, or ii) completion of the full vaccination series against COVID-19, or iii) approved exemption (medical contraindications or a sincerely held religious belief) through the formal exemption process from the COVID-19 vaccination requirement. For those employees who have completed the first vaccination against COVID-19 prior to their first day of employment, the second vaccination (if applicable) must be completed following the vaccination recommended schedule to be considered fully vaccinated.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Analytics, leadership, organization, understanding insurance EOBs, attention to detail, excellent communication skills, teamwork, consistency, initiative, speed and accuracy in typing/keyboarding, and competency in MS Office.

Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? No Preferred Education/Experience

Prefer experience with billing and collections in a medical and/or dental practice with multiple providers; monitoring and resolving issues on patient accounts; and must have proven experience working with vendors and internal and external customers in a positive and professional manner.

The ideal candidate will have account reconciliation experience in a medical or dental clinic. Individual must enjoy working with accounts and details on a daily basis, while identifying and researching issues to completion. In addition, mush have proven experience with the following skills: organization, accuracy, time management and customer service.
