Job Skills/Requirements

Recruiting and leasing long-term contractors to haul freight as part of Mercer's truck fleets. Incentives and work from home options are available after the training process!

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Locates prospective contractors by means approved by the Manager.

2. Sells prospective contractors on the benefits of long-term lease agreements with Mercer by: a. telephone interview b. one-on-one interviews in the contract recruiter's office c. meetings in truck stops d. meetings in field offices e. participation in trade shows f. follow-up as needed

3. Travels as directed by Manager, Truck Recruiting.

4. Performs reference checks for potential contractors and contractors drivers.

5. Cross-trains to attain proficiency in other jobs with the Truck Recruiting Department.

6. Maintains recruiting database.

7. Remains well versed in all Mercer recruiting programs available.

8. Ensures that all paperwork received is reasonable and complete.

9. Schedules approved recruits for orientation.

10. Advises agent when a contractor leases on from his area.

NONESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE These are desirable, but not necessary, aspects of the job. 1. Truck industry experience preferred. 2. Experience with recruiting, sales or marketing.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT 1. Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include: sitting, standing, or walking for extended periods of time; operating office equipment; and lifting up to 25 pounds. 2. Visual Acuity; ability to see and hear within normal parameters, must use hands and fingers to use keyboard and mouse; operate equipment or controls; reach above shoulder heights, below the waist; or lift to file documents or store materials throughout the work day. Proper lifting techniques required.
