SUMMARY: The "Operations Manager" is within our Pool division and is responsible for the plant operations to ensure scheduled workflow and use of personnel, skills, raw material efficiencies, and the production plans objectives are met.
Essential Job Functions
- Manages production operation to ensure scheduled workflow and use of personnel, skills, raw material efficiencies, and the production plans objectives are met
- Reviews performance against operating plans and standards. Provides reports to subordinates on interpretation of results and approves changes in direction of plans.
- Defines and recommends objectives in each area of operations of the facility. Develops specific short-term and long-term plans and programs, together with supporting budget request and financial estimates.
- Manages all aspects of personnel performance, staffing, training and discipline within the department. Ensures that duties, responsibilities, authority, and accountability of all direct subordinates are defined and understood.
- Encourages and promotes a plant culture of Continuous Improvement and Employee Involvement.
- Interprets and administers the current labor agreement to include responding to grievances.
- Keeps production standards up to date, track efficiencies and rework.
- Ensures that proper levels of Health & Safety, Good Manufacturing Practices, housekeeping, and participates in site incident and injury reporting, and drive corrective actions to completion.
- Responsible for coordinating all production and maintenance related activities including outages, and ensure sound execution with minimal downtime.
- Will be key stakeholder in continuous improvement activities, including visual workplace, 5S, and Kaizen.
- Responsible for managing quality production and charged with collaborating with QC to build an adequate rev log system to drive product related quality issues to resolution.
- Responsible for ensuring minimal waste generation in all plants and will help drive maximized raw material utilization.
Qualifications
- BS Degree is preferred in Technical, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or equivalent Degree with 5 years of chemical manufacturing experience.
- Demonstrated leadership ability to affect change, consistently drive results, and influence all levels of the organization.
- The ability to react with urgency to achieve objectives and deadlines despite obstacles and time pressures.
- Experienced in managing greater than 50 FTE's, with robust skills in managing departmental budget and maintaining key financial and performance metrics.
- Accomplished in meeting production schedules, controlling & improving production efficiency
- Skilled in Lean Manufacturing, GMP & JIT/TQM/ CI Concepts, in team building, quality control and assurance.
- Demonstrated leadership and self-starter skills.
- Demonstrated drive and potential to assume higher levels of responsibility.
- General understanding of business principles and typical business practices.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work cross-functionally with other departments.
