The company has an exciting opportunity for a Human Resources Business Partner to join their Portland, Maine team.
The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) works under the direction of the Human Resources Director and is responsible for addressing designated department needs with effective HR strategies. The position partners with members of the HR team to develop and administer HR solutions that support relevant strategic goals and provides HR generalist support to management and staff. The position serves as a consultant to leaders in maximizing results through the use of sound strategic HR practices. The HRBP will provide reliable direction and counsel on HR related issues and/or services while ensuring consistency and compliance with policies and regulatory requirements.
The ideal candidate will have several years of HR experience specifically in the areas of performance management, recruiting and workforce planning. This role requires excellent consulting and problem-solving skills, proven ability to collaborate with colleagues, and commitment to providing the highest level of service.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Partners with management and physicians to develop effective staffing and recruitment strategies.
- Sources candidates through a variety of channels including advertising, internet searches, employee referrals, community networking, academic and professional associations, and job fairs.
- Extends and negotiates offers of employment with candidates; notifies candidates who have not been selected.
- Makes recommendations to the management team for continuous improvement with regard to recruitment, staffing and on-boarding.
- Conducts exit interviews, analyzes trends and uses data to guide staffing plans.
- Collects, consolidates and reports on employment metrics (turnover, yield analysis, etc.)
- Provides advice and counsel to managers and employees on performance related issues.
- Helps leaders to provide employees with development opportunities and ensure that they are able to meet current and future performance standards.
- Assists leaders with the development of performance improvement plans.
- Works with leaders and employees to help facilitate relationships and foster a positive working environment.
- Provides guidance to leaders and employees regarding company policies and procedures.
- Provides employee relations consultation and coaching.
- Stays abreast of policies and procedures interpretation, investigations, fair treatment appeals, and employment claims.
- Ensures understanding of the operations of the departments supported, including key business functions and processes.
- Applies understanding of finances and business operations in order to provide relevant and well-reasoned HR consultation to area leaders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree required
- Minimum of 2 years experience working in HR as a Business Partner, Employee Relations Specialist, HR Generalist or OD Specialist
- SHRM-CP or PHR desired, SHRM-SCP or SPHR preferred
- Core business understanding with a broad background that can include talent management, succession planning, and understanding of compensation, benefits, recruitment, compliance
- Results-oriented and demonstrated strategic thinking abilities
- Ability to deal with ambiguous situations and adapt to competing priorities
- Team facilitation skills and experience in resolving complex problems impacting people, process and program issues
- Good listener with strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience facilitating meetings such as focus groups and conducting investigations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships
- Ability to collaborate with colleagues to most effectively address the needs of employees and management
- Experience in conflict resolution, including the ability to act as a mediator and facilitator when required
- Ability to maintain composure and objectively coach employees concerning complex, highly sensitive and/or emotional issues
- Outstanding influencing and interpersonal skills; proven success building credibility and inspiring confidence at all levels within the organization
- Strong computer skills in MS Excel, Word, Power Point and ability to learn new computer applications
- Unwavering commitment to providing the highest level of service to InterMed physicians, managers and employees
