Summary
The Maine Medical Center Research Institute's Center for Outcomes Research and Evaluation (CORE) and MaineHealth seek to hire a faculty member with health-related research experience and expertise in biostatistics. We are seeking candidates at the level of Associate or Full Professor. They will also receive rank of appointment, within the Tufts University School of Medicine, commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position will have significant leadership and management responsibilities, and candidates with prior leadership experience are preferred. The position will involve significant consulting with and mentoring other faculty on relevant research methods, grant applications, and publications.
This faculty position will report to the CORE Director. CORE is a research center supporting the advancement of health services research and translational research at MaineHealth. CORE serves as the focal point for health care professionals, researchers and analysts from across MaineHealth to foster multidisciplinary collaborations that bring together our diverse skills and talents to pursue health services research and education. In addition, MMCRI and CORE cultivate strong research and educational collaborations with external partners including Northeastern University's Roux Institute, University of New England, University of Southern Maine, University of Vermont, Dartmouth, Tufts Clinical and Translational Science Institute, The Jackson Laboratory, other health care delivery systems, community organizations, and state and local government agencies.
The successful candidate will lead the CORE Biostatistics group, including directly supervising a growing team of data analysts and data scientists. In addition to leading this team, the candidate will be funded to consult with faculty regarding applied research and will engage in collaborative research. They may also develop and conduct original methodological research if they desire. They will support proposals to secure external funding, and contribute to our educational mission including teaching post-docs and faculty across the various sponsored fellowships and other educational programs.
This is a full-time, 12-month position, to start as soon as possible with substantial non-grant secure funding for consultation and development roles. The Biostatistics group will be essential in achieving CORE and MMCRI's research and educational missions.
We seek experienced individuals with prior research experience and funding. Experience with federal funding (e.g., R awards at NIH/AHRQ or equivalent) is required. Specific areas of interest include expertise in pragmatic trials, step-wedge designs, longitudinal data, administrative claims data, survey data, causal inference, cluster-randomized trials, and analysis of electronic health records.
