Below is a list of your responsibilities as an Assistant Director of Nursing with Corizon Health:
- Functions as the senior clinical nurse for their respective area of responsibility.
- Supervises the delivery of nursing services provided to the inmates within their areas of responsibility daily.
- Assists / Develops monthly staffing schedule one month in advance to their HSA and the DON, works with the Charge Nurses to adjust their daily personnel needs, provides any personnel changes to include call outs, scheduling trades, etc., to the HSA and the DON.
- Visits each area of clinical responsibility at least once a week to observe the performance of the staff and to discuss ongoing programs and problems.
- Ensures that each area of clinical responsibility provides the state required data to Infection Control in a timely manner.
- Plays an active role in continuous quality improvement activities or projects.
- Assists with monitoring and tracking of patient grievances in a timely and complete manner and assists the Charge Nurses with answering inmate grievances in a similar manner.
- Puts into operation and enforces current policies and procedures, makes recommendations to the DON for any updates or changes needed in the policies and procedures.
- Ensures new staff is scheduled for proper orientation prior to routine staffing assignments.
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
- Other duties as assigned by management.

- Associate degree or RN Diploma required. Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
- Two (2) years of experience in healthcare / nursing administration.
- Active RN license in state where position is located with unrestricted/non probationary status. Specialty certification desired (i.e., CCHP, ACHE, etc.)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Experience using Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Requires critical thinking, organizational, decisive judgment, communication, good customer service skills.
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks, be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate actions as needed.
- Must always follow Corizon and departmental policies and procedures.
- Subject to initial and ongoing security clearance requirement
Correctional officers provide security; however, some degree of risk of verbal and physical assault from inmates exists. As in any healthcare setting, employees may be exposed to communicable and/or infectious diseases. Inside work with periodic traveling (inter and intra state) to other locations with exposure to weather, temperature extremes and hazardous road conditions. Frequent standing and walking while presenting or performing job duties.
Because patients need round the clock care, working hours include days, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call. Rotating shifts, weekends as well as holiday and work during inclement weather will be required. Adheres to site/contract specific regarding on-call requirements and mandated schedules/overtime. Team members may be mandated to work shifts and/or overtime due to site/staffing or emergencies.
Essential staff is defined as healthcare and behavioral professionals that may be required or mandated to work due to site/staffing or emergencies (natural disaster, inclement weather, or other situations).
Employees must be able to perform the following:
- Required to exert up to 50 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects including the human body.
- Required to kneel, stoop, crouch and/or crawl occasionally. Frequent walking throughout site; to include walking up and down flights of stairs.
- Must have and maintain sufficient strength, agility, and endurance to perform during stressful (physical, mental, and emotional) situations encountered on the job.
- Occasional running when responding to emergencies; must be able to perform BLS.
A background check, security clearance and drug screening are required for this role.
